PeckEm Posted November 4, 2019 Posted November 4, 2019 Dultz is a damn idiot. And whoever hired him is a bigger idiot. 16 pass attempts? R u kidding me??!! And if that’s not embarrassing enough, let’s throw in 64 yards passing!! Peewee league teams can pass for 64 yards. Wth, this is disgraceful. And it ain’t gonna get better. How can you recruit a talented qb and talented receivers with this moron as the head coach??!! Culture change? Yes, he’s changed the culture alright....we are officially a joke of a program. Honestly, I don’t even want to watch this team play. It’s total agony. Quote
puddin tane Posted November 4, 2019 Posted November 4, 2019 I cant seem to make the stats work on LU website any idea on receptions/yards receiving by our wideouts? Quote

coachacola Posted November 4, 2019 Posted November 4, 2019 This season is a perfect example why LU can't maintain any kind of fan base in their major sports. They'll suck for a while, then have a decent season with a new coach so the admin extends their contract, then without fail the team starts sucking again. So they fire the coach and bring in a new one. Rinse and repeat. Quote

Schultz was hired before Born arrived. if Schultz can't get it done, then I'm hoping that Born goes young, with a background of being a successful passing college QB. Read the bio of the HC for Central. They're out there. Quote
lu cards Posted November 4, 2019 Posted November 4, 2019 lamar does great in the lesser sports and almost won the commissioners cup last year.cant get the big 3(mens football, baseball and basketball)going.davis and price need good years to keep there jobs.schulz will get one more and then i can see him getting shit canned. PeckEm Posted November 4, 2019 Posted November 4, 2019 Season stats It's bad....I mean REALLY BAD! If you throw out Banks you're looking at #81 and #19 battling it out by averaging just over 19 yards per game. LMAO. https://lamarcardinals.com/sports/football/stats/2019 Quote

spoonbill Posted November 4, 2019 Posted November 4, 2019 Unless Shane steps up, gains confidence, and makes some throws the Cards are in big trouble. Schultz shouldn't have left the QB cupboard so bare. That's completely on him. The whole season was dependent on Jordan staying healthy. That's an unrealistic expectation in D1 college. Quote
Dracula Posted November 4, 2019 Posted November 4, 2019 (edited) I am enjoying the posts wanting passing, welcome to the dark side! PASSING Chunk that tater! I can understand wanting to run a dual purpose scheme or a regular passing and rushing scheme but DAMN a dual purpose scheme where you rush the ball 55 times and throw 7. freakin killing me. I'm telling you right now Marco Born is as ambitious, as any young and so far successful AD, and his career ladder can't gloss over this shit. Whether he likes Schultz or not, he can't afford, to have one of his premier programs look mediocre. I'm going by memory here but every coaching change, that Born has made, has gone much younger, than the previous coach. I just hope that Born is still around, if push comes to shove. geezer Posted November 4, 2019 Author Posted November 4, 2019 Born should be at LU for at least another three years unless he does something unethical to get fired (which I would doubt). I would expect a bigger school to want to see actual evidence of sustained improvement. I would be more concerned about maintaining a good coaching staff when Born leaves as if the coaches he brings in produce the success to move him up the AD ladder that he might look to take them along if he moves up. LMAO. https://lamarcardinals.com/sports/football/stats/2019 thats what i was looking for, the wideouts. Banks is a 2 yard slant, even givens can make that throw 50% of the time. bevil to jj berry to roberts berry to beggleton Harrington being harrington these guys, tho not great teams, were fun to watch..the actual possibility of scoring at anytime..hell, the actual possibility of getting a first down at anytime. Actual “threats” that other teams had to watch for. schitz brings nothing but boredom. Hes bad, not likeable, and boring...a lethal comination to a program. Quote

Anyone else wondering what Will McBride is doing these days? Schultz should beware. The year Woodard went through 5 quarterbacks and lost his All-American running back, he was fired. Injuries will not get you off the hook. Quote

LU17 Posted November 4, 2019 Posted November 4, 2019 I think Schultz believed Hoy would be the starter every game and didn’t prepare for his injury. The 3 that left (McBride,Dallas and Morse) didn’t leave the night before our first game this year. Mr. Arrogance (Schultz) thought he had it covered with Johnson and Givens because Hoy wasnt supposed to get hurt. Now that Hoy is out, Schultz is left with a situation he wasn’t prepared for and it’s showing. That’s on Schultz! Somebody said earlier that Lamar football has one decent season per coach and then tailspin. Woodard went 8-4 one season so this sounds about right. I believe Shultz will get to finish his extension and then get fired. I hope I am wrong and it happens sooner! This brand of football is pathetic. Born will look incompetent if he fires him this year because he was just extended. Quote
geezer Posted November 4, 2019 Author Posted November 4, 2019 When players leave it usually means they had no expectation of an opportunity to play. Very few athletes would attend LU to get a scholarship to pay for their education and put up with the work to be on the team without thinking they had a chance to play at some point in the future. With the LU offensive scheme a passing QB isn't getting a chance until all the running QBs are injured. Morse and Dallas were either fourth or fifth on the depth chart whether they deserved to be or not because of the scheme. Quote

Schultz is only comfortable playing one QB, so anybody down the depth charts would not expect to play. Need proof? Just look at how little Hoy played last year after being player of the week twice while filling in for an injured Colbert. I'm not saying he should have started but he did earn some snaps. Quote

geezer Posted November 6, 2019 Author Posted November 6, 2019 I think most college programs settle on a QB and stick with that player over the course of a season only pulling them if their team is fully in control and winning the game. It looks like Schultz is focused on establishing a running game and then throwing enough to keep the opponent honest, but has failed to establish that run game on a consistent basis and he hasn't chosen a QB that is a good enough passer. From my take the best programs have a QB that is a good passer and a good enough runner to make the opponent respect the run threat from the QB while relying on the running backs to do the running. Hope Schultz will change. Quote
PeckEm Posted November 8, 2019 Posted November 8, 2019 The QB situation is not completely on Coach Schultz. McBride, Dallas and Morse left the program in the past year. Any of the three would be starting now I disagree. I think it’s totally on Dultz. With his scheme he obviously could care less if the QB can throw. I seriously doubt Dallas and Morse ever got a fair shot to compete for the job. The only way his crappy system has a chance is if we have a dominant offensive line. (And that’s only because almost any system can work with a dominant offensive line. FYI, our offensive line isn’t dominant) Quote
geezer Posted November 8, 2019 Author Posted November 8, 2019 I agree the QB situation is on the coaching staff. The best QB Lamar has had since the return of football was Berry and he didn't get a fair shake to start out with from Woodard either. My recollection is that he was third string until the two above him got hurt, one of whom was in his senior season. Berry filled the passing role and was just enough of a running threat to keep the opponents honest even without a dominant O-line. Harrington's run ability helped him a great deal. I think even among the top teams at the FBS level the most successful have a QB that is a really good passer. Quote
