SportsGuy Posted January 4 Posted January 4 Need to win all of these if we are going to be a real contender. HCU tonight @ 6pm. Quote
SportsGuy Posted January 5 Author Posted January 5 Incarnate Word will be a good test Monday night, the SA Cardinals just beat SFA in Naconowhere. Quote
geezer Posted January 6 Posted January 6 Cards face UIW tonight at 7 PM. Will Lamar start the conference out at 4-0 for the first time in a quarter century? They definitely have a decent chance to. Quote
lu cards Posted January 6 Posted January 6 Gonna go check them for the first time this year. Hopefully they show up and ball out tonight. Quote
geezer Posted January 7 Posted January 7 Lamar opens with an 11-0 start over the first four minutes. Quote
geezer Posted January 7 Posted January 7 That under sixteen-minute media timeout broke Lamar's streak and the game has been pretty even over the next eight minutes with Lamar leading 25-17 at the 7:57 mark. Quote
geezer Posted January 7 Posted January 7 UIW has chipped the Lamar lead to two points at the last media timeout of the first half with the score 30-28. Quote
geezer Posted January 7 Posted January 7 Lamar plays good defense and gets some good shots to extend the lead back to nine points at the half 39-30. UIW has twelve turnovers compared to six for Lamar. Hamilton is leading the way for Lamar with twelve points and five rebounds. Quote
geezer Posted January 7 Posted January 7 Played five and a half minutes so far in the second half before the first timeout and UIW has chipped away again at the lead, now at 47-42 making three-point shots. Their leading scorer Bailey has gotten hot this half. Quote
SportsGuy Posted January 7 Author Posted January 7 UIW seems to have a decent team. 63-54 Lamar ahead with 4 minutes and some change Quote
geezer Posted January 7 Posted January 7 Lamar wins 72-58. A good win for Lamar as they held UIW below their season scoring average. Brooks said after the game that Hamilton was at full strength tonight after some kind of treatment over the holiday break and holding him back the last couple of games. Hamilton had sixteen points to lead the team. Quote
coachacola Posted January 7 Posted January 7 HCU beat SFA. The 2 point win against them doesn't seem so bad now. SFA is struggling in their return to the SLC. Who knew? Quote
geezer Posted January 7 Posted January 7 Lamar will face SFA Saturday evening at 6 PM. SFA is off to a bad start in conference, but this is another rivalry type game. Lamar is tied with McNeese for first in the conference standings so far. Quote
lu cards Posted January 7 Posted January 7 Haven’t been to a game in a while. The Attendance has dropped considerably in last few years. Hopefully few more wins will help draw some fans back. Overall team looks better than what we’ve had last few years but still need to upgrade some spots. I’ll definitely be back if they keep winning. Quote
geezer Posted January 11 Posted January 11 Time for game three of this homestand. Cards will play SFA at 6 PM January 11th. While SFA is currently 0-4 in conference action Lamar needs to avoid thinking that SFA is potentially an easy win. Quote
geezer Posted January 12 Posted January 12 Lamar gets the early lead 10-6 at the first media timeout. Quote
geezer Posted January 12 Posted January 12 Made to the third media timeout and the Cards are up by ten, 22-12 with the ball. Quote
geezer Posted January 12 Posted January 12 SFA goes on a 9-0 run to close the gap. Lamar ends the half up five 37-32. Quote
geezer Posted January 12 Posted January 12 SFA opens the second half with an eight-point run to take a three-point lead in the first two minutes. Lamar takes a timeout, hopefully Brooks can settle the Cards down and get this turned around. Quote
geezer Posted January 12 Posted January 12 Lamar came back a little but, in the end, made too many mistakes. Lumberjacks played like they always do, with extreme aggressiveness on defense and get the breaks. Final score 72-63. Lamar has one more home game on Monday with UNO to get back on the winning track before going back on the road. Quote
RustyG Posted January 12 Posted January 12 Frustrating game. No adjustments to the aggressive man D they played. Don’t understand taking Marmolejos off the point. Offense was totally out of sync the last 10 minutes of the game. Should’ve been in the Win column. We looked like a different team than the one I’ve seen the last couple of weeks. Quote
geezer Posted Monday at 04:23 AM Posted Monday at 04:23 AM I've watched for years at all levels and so many times the extremely aggressive man to man defensive teams seem to get the breaks especially when the game is called on the loose side, even to the point that the less aggressive team gets called for fouls that the more aggressive team isn't called. Oh well, the bad news is the Cards really don't have any off time for coaches to try to address in practice mistakes made, good news is the Cards get a chance to get the bad loss out of their system with a win Monday evening in the last game of this homestand. The Cards take on UNO at 7PM. UNO is at the bottom of the conference standings. Quote
