In the age of NIL I think the type of coach Lamar needs has changed. Since players are lured in with money they need someone with great coaching skills. My guess is there's a lot of coaches out there under the radar which fit that bill.
Seems like for the last 30 years it hasn't mattered who was hired, the results have always been the same: mediocrity or worse. SportsGuy is right, these days it's all about the money.
LU did lose their pitching coach so it might mean the pitching won't be as good this year. The last few years they've started off strong and faded down the stretch. I'm not judging this team just yet.
As more schools move to FBS the less it means to be in the FBS. The big dogs of the FBS hasn't changed much over the decades as they have been slowly consolidating into a few conferences. Funny thing is that universities are basically a relic of the 20th century and I think there's going to be a further divide between a school and it's athletic program.
