This was a big win. We have a realistic chance of having a winning season. This conference is pretty crazy! I am proud of our effort tonite. I don’t care for Shultz, but he is winning, so I will not complain. Good effort by our guys tonite. We haven’t ever beat UCA, so this was a big deal.

Yes Lamar is currently in a four way tie for fourth place with a win over two of the teams LU is tied with and does not play the other this season. ACU is the other team and they have to play Sam and UCA for their final two games. McNeese, Nicholls and IW are tied for first with NIcholls owning the tie breaker with McNeese and what looks like the most likely to win their last two games at home against SFA and SELA. IW plays at UCA next week and IW's losses have come on the road. I'll trust the coaching staff, but Lamar cannot look past HBU. A win next week guarantees a winning season and sets up a tremendous opportunity to finish the season way beyond what anyone on this board thought possible just a few weeks ago.

Way to go Cards!!! Tied for 2nd place in the SLC!! Not too shabby! Next week's game should be a cake-walk for LU but it's one of those trap games. HBU isn't very good but if Lamar gets too full of themselves they could end up losing. All indications point to that not happening which means a 5-3 LU team will face league leading McNeese with a real chance to win that game. I'm not sure if there is any scenario which Lamar could win the conference title but wouldn't that be a hoot?!! I agree with an earlier post, I hate to see LU take their foot off the gas in the second half of the game. I would have liked to see the Cards hang 50 on UCA but, I'm not scoring by style points, we friggin' won the game and we have a real chance to do some damage here. If Lamar can win out and end up 6-3 in conference and 7-4 overall that would be amazing!!!

The scenerio for LU to tie for conference champions is UCA defeats IW next week, Nicholls gets upset at home either by SFA or SELA and Lamar wins out, That would leave Nicholls, McNeese and Lamar all with three losses and six wins. IW would have five wins and three losses so they would wind up a half game back. Sam and UCA are irrelevant to Lamar getting to the tie for the championship as they each already have three losses. I’m reluctantly turning into a believer. Especially the way we played the first half. We actually threw the ball! We actually used play action! We actually threw to the tight end! I was in disbelief. We went to sleep offensively in the second half, I think part of the issue was Sikes got hurt on his second touchdown catch. Of course the coaches opted to go with a one handed tight end most of the second half (while I was screaming at the tv to put 85 in so we’d at least have a threat...they finally did for one play and Hoy missed him, wide open!). Oh, and our center got hurt...not good.

I will say that I have been critical of this coaching staff in the past. I will also say we are riding a 4 game win streak so who cares what I think or say. When you put your money where your mouth is and prove it on the field that’s the name of the game. I just do not like our conservative second half approach of scoring a bunch in the first half and running out the clock in the second half. I read where a player said something like the offense scored enough to win in the first half and it was the defense job to hold them. It has worked so far! I did think Coach Schultz deserves a “good job” for airing it out against a run tough UCA defense. I knew we had talent on this team. The coaches have done a good job putting it all together. We really have seemed to turn the corner offensively. There are some teams that are happy they caught us early, because we would destroy them if we played that game again. I don’t think any SLC team is looking forward to playing us.
