    Cards win 69-62 on a strong second half effort. Lamar pulls even on the conference record at two and two. Lamar will return to action at McNeese on Friday January 2nd with a six PM start time.

    Lamar defense goes on a tear holding ETAM scoreless for eight minutes and erasing the ETAM lead and open a six-point lead of their own 52-46 Lamar on top.

    Lamar slowly climbing back in the second half, now down by seven 46-39 and shooting a free throw coming out of the under twelve-minute media timeout.

    After getting out to a ten-point lead near the middle of the half the Cards shooting goes cold and the turnovers go up allowing ETAM to comeback and take a nine-point lead into halftime. 34-25.

    Cards off to a little bit of a sloppy start with two turnovers and one foul in the first five minutes of the game but still up 7-4 as neither team is shooting above 33%.

    Following a good win on Monday the men finish the 2025 portion of the season at East Texas A&M with an eleven AM game and a chance to even their conference record.

    Lamar wins 76-61. Cards were a little sloppy on offense in the second half committing eight turnovers and committing too many fouls also. Lee came out strong from a shooting standpoint to wind up as the leading scorer for the game with 19. Lamar had four players in double figures. East led all players with twelve rebounds.

    Lamar not shooting as well in the second half and a little sloppy with ball security have seen the lead fall to 63-48 with under eight minutes to play.

    Cards up by nineteen 44-25 at the half. Lamar shooting 63% from the field including four of nine from three-point range. Cards are winning the rebounding and turnover stats. The only negative is the Cards have four players with two fouls each. A couple of unlikely leaders for scoring in this game. Lowe is leading with 13 first half points and Wilhite has eight. The three usual leading scorers have a combined six points.

    Cards are off to their best start since Montana St. Shooting a high percentage and playing good defense. Cards up 20-15 with under 12 in the first half.

    Men's basketball returns to action this evening at 6:30 taking on Northwestern State in Natchitoches. This is the first of the remaining twenty conference games and is all about seating for the conference tournament. Will Lamar come back looking like the team that opened the year or the one that closed out the non-conference portion with losses.

    I hope for a new focus and continued progress in all sports.

    Among other things, is a power forward that can shoot the mid-range shot and drive the ball to the basket like a big running back in football that can go through the defender and score or get a foul on the defender and make the free throws. What I want is kind of like Errol White but can really shoot.

    Lamar women stepped out of conference against Prairie View A&M this evening Dec 17th and win going away 72-59. Lamar started out strong and were on their way to a potential blowout before Denly went out with an ankle injury. To add insult to the injury Taylor also went down with an injury early in the second quarter. With neither Denley or Taylor in the game for most of the second quarter PV was able to trim the Lamar lead to two points at the half. Taylor was able to return in the second half, and her presence enabled Lamar to again take control even though she really wasn't 100%. Cards win 72-59.

    Cards play better in the second half but nowhere near good enough to make a comeback. Final score RGV 83- Lamar 72.

    Lamar down fifteen at the half, 49-34. You have to hope RGV will start missing some three pointers but for the first half they shot 75% from deep compared to 16.7% for Lamar. Holifield is 0-3 and Lee is 1-5.

    Lamar off to another crappy start. Can't run a half-court offense that gets a clean shot, can't defend well enough either inside or out. Brooks starting lineup doesn't have five players that can score. Cards down 25-12 at the under twelve-minute timeout.

    Men host UTRGV at 6 pm this evening. Both teams are looking for their first conference win.

    Lamar women played their second conference game at home against A&M CC this evening winning by a final of 77-49. Cardinals had three players in double figures and scored 20 and 25 points in the final two quarters to win by a wide margin after a tight game in the first half.

    Montana State takes down SFA 41-21.

    Surprise SFA goes 75 yards in six plays to get a score before the end of the first half and then receive the opening kickoff of the third quarter and go on a twelve play drive to close the gap to ten points.

    Montana State smokin SFA in the quarter final game. SFA has three turnovers and MSU has three touchdowns off of the turnovers. MSU up 24-0 with a minute and a half left in the first half.

    At least the acceptable expectations for Lamar men's basketball are elevated. Realistically they have lost one game they should have won, maybe two. The loss to CC hurts. What Lamar does next Tuesday versus UTRGV is the opportunity to really get on track.

    Cards fall by eighteen at SDSU 89-71.

    7:28 left in the game with SDSU up by twenty 78-58. Lamar has cooled off so far this half only shooting 33%.
