  1. SFA comes back with another three pointer to retake the lead following a timeout.
  2. With 12:17 left in the game Lamar is up by one point 58-57 on a Lowe three pointer, a steal and a dunk by Pennebaker. Big move by Lamar.
  3. Lamar closes out the half with about a sixty-foot heave from Lowe that goes through with the clock at zero to finish the half only down two points 43-41.
  4. Men are down by five points with 3:56 left in the first half. SFA has been shooting an outstanding 63% from the field on nine of fourteen three point attempts. Many of those have been with a hand in their face. Lamar is shooting a reasonable 41%.
  5. Ladies get a hard fought ten-point win over the Lady Jacks 73-63. Cards defense was solid and held SFA under their scoring average. Wilson was the leading scorer with 29 points followed by Denley with ten points as the only two Lamar players in double figures. Lamar had a 43-26 edge in rebounding.
  6. Lamar men and women host SFA Saturday beginning with the women tipoff at one PM. Both games are big ones with the women tied for second in the conference one game back of McNeese. The men are a little further back of first place SFA and must win if they want a chance to climb back to the top or at least be in the top four when the conference tournament gets here.
  7. Lamar falls by thirteen 89-76. Cardinals couldn't overcome the foul trouble. Lamar finished the game shooting 39% from the field, but UNO shot better at 54%. Lamar made seven more three-pointers than UNO but in the end when UNO shot twenty-five more free throws than Lamar it's just hard to overcome.
  8. Lamar down by seven with 8:15 left in the game. Although the total fouls for both teams aren't that for apart, Lamar is getting called for ticky tack fouls that UNO isn't. Lamar also not shooting a good enough percentage, shooting 33% so far in the game.
  9. Lamar down by five (41-36) at the half and lucky it is only that much. White picked up two early fouls and sat on the bench much of the half. Lee picked up his second foul with twelve minutes left, going out and not returning and Holifield picked up a second foul with six minutes left but came back in as Lamar wasn't getting any offense going but picked up a third foul with 1:37 left in the half. UNO is fourteen of twenty-one from the free throw line.
  10. Tight ball game for the first eight minutes. Tied at 18. UNO looks to be playing just a little more aggressively and so far all the calls are going their way as Lamar has seven fouls to one foul for UNO.
  11. Men's basketball takes on UNO in New Orleans this evening at 7PM. The Cards are currently on their longest winning streak of the season at three games and have a chance to sweep a pair of conference road games. Should be a tough game as UNO and Lamar were tied going into last Saturday's action with both teams playing one of the conference leaders. Lamar got a win and UNO lost a close game. Lamar will return home for four games after this one.
  12. I don't know how long the current arrangement is set for, but placing the tournament in Lake Charles was one of the conditions the Southland agreed to when McNeese was considering joining the WAC in that year when Lamar and the others left the conference. I think the new McNeese arena was under construction, so they were going to have the largest venue, and it was still geographically near the center of the remaining seven or eight teams.
  13. UTRGV upsets McNeese hanging on for a two-point win after being ahead by twenty-three with about two minutes left in the first half.
  14. Men win 90-80 over Nicholls. Maybe the best shooting game of recent past as Lamar shoots 64% from the field including ten three pointers. Lee leads the Cards with twenty points.
  15. Cards maintain the lead through the first twelve minutes of the second half, leading 68-60 with 7:52 left in the game. Not shooting as well in the second half but are ahead in the second half turnovers so far.
  16. Lamar shoots an outstanding 71% from the field in the first half but only have a 45-40 lead. Nicholls has stayed in the game shooting a respectable 46% from the field and eight of ten from the free throw line where Lamar has only shot two free throws missing both of them. Lamar has two more turnovers than Nicholls.
  17. Mens game a tight one through the first twelve minutes. Nicholls up one at the under eight-minute timeout. 30-29
  18. Ladies get the win at Nicholls. 72-64
  19. Lamar up 49-45 going to the fourth quarter.
  20. Tight game of small runs finds Lamar women up by two points at the half. 32-30
  21. Ladies lead most of the first quarter, but a late run by Nicholls gives them the first quarter lead at 17-16
  22. Men and Women basketball play at Nicholls with the women tipping off first at 1 PM. The women won there Thursday game at UNO 72-56 to stay in a tie for second in the conference.
  23. Have to maintain at least what was accomplished this past season to really be considered elite by others. Do better still and Lamar can be a champion.
  24. Looks like these last three signees are bigger than the average at their position than Lamar has had.
  25. Cards get a win over HCU in Beaumont 64-56. Man, this team is hard to watch. HCU is in last place, but you would have thought Lamar was for the entire first half and into the second. First half Lamar was out scored, out rebounded, out hustled and committed more turnovers. That said Lamar was only down six at the half as neither team shot a good field goal percentage. In the second half, Rob Lee took over scoring wise with twenty-six second half points and a total of 31 to lead all scorers. Holifield made ten of his twelve points in the second half and Wilhite finished out the double figure scoring with ten points. Lamar was outrebounded by one for the game and had four more turnovers for the game than HCU. Lamar's shooting percentage was much better in the second half. Lamar travels to Nicholls Saturday afternoon and New Orleans next Monday for the next two games. Nicholls is currently atop the conference standings with a twenty plus point loss at McNeese.
