  1. Has anyone heard anything about Olivier? He had a couple of less than usual starts including a three innings pitched loss to Oregon State and a five innings pitched loss to Nicholls and then did not pitch at all this past weekend.
  2. Cards locked up the second seek with a game left and Davis parks his starters treating today more like a midweek that doesn't matter, dropping the final game. Personally, I never like giving a game away.
  3. Roster has been updated in the last day or two and now shows seven new players and one red shirt freshman (Sanders) as the only holdover from last year.
  4. Tough loss in game one. Smith pitches nine scoreless innings before giving up the loan run to McNeese in the bottom of the tenth.
  5. Is it reasonable to think that the six guys still listed on the roster from last year are returning as they have added these four new ones to the roster list. Three of the six re-shirted last year.
  6. Cards will take on McNeese starting on Thursday for the tournament championship. Lamar defeated SLU twice to get to the championship round. McNeese swept Lamar on the opening week of the regular season, so we will see if Lamar improved enough over the course of the season to earn a trip to the NCAA.
  7. Lamar falters on the next to last weekend and now will need help as well as sweeping HCU next week get the regular season championship and guarantee themselves the second seed for the conference tournament.
  8. I've been looking at various sites and have still only found references to three Cardinal players in the portal. The three listed in 24/7 portal tracking are East, Lowe and Lee. If there are other players in the portal can anyone provide any information. Lee and East have destinations, Lowe doesn't at this point.
  9. Portal shows Rob Lee is headed to Western Michigan.
  10. If a player is already in the portal they can still move, but no one new can enter the portal.
  11. Based on the performance of the men's golf team in the first two rounds of the conference, tournament, I would think the men's coach will be gone too.
  12. You never know when a player will have a breakout year or how they will fit into a different system, but other than size, Reed's profile doesn't seem like a major contributor. May be similar to Bulajic.Bulajic
  13. Cards sweep Northwestern State over the weekend to climb into first place in the conference standings. Cards have nine conference games remaining with three at UNO followed by three at home against Southeastern La who is one game back of Lamar in the loss column and three at HCU to close out the season.
  14. Ladies drop the final game and now sit in third place needing help and a sweep against HCU next week to get to second place for the tournament.
  15. A Sweep would be really good.
  16. I think Harold was still on the ESPN+ broadcast of the baseball game last night.
  17. Cards drop two of three to Northwestern St and fall to a tie for fifth in the conference and four games out of second.
  18. I saw Braden East is headed to Houston. Hope the best for him as that is quite a jump in my opinion.
  19. Southeastern La is definitely the team to beat in softball, having improved to 18-0 in conference play with a sweep of Lamar. For Lamar they have fallen into third place tie with Nicholls but have the tie breaker with them and are two games back of second place who they still have a three-game series with.
  20. Lamar winning streak ends with two run rule losses at Southeastern La.
  21. Do red shirt freshman half to enter the portal?
  22. As of today, three Cards have entered the portal. Lowe and Rob Lee entered during the period available after Brooks was fired and Braden East put his name in early this week after the NCAA Tournament finished. I hope all three find what they are looking for, but I really hope East will return to Lamar. I have major doubts that he will return though.
  23. Ladies keep the winning streak alive with a 10-8 win over Baylor in a mid-week game. Winning streak is now at fourteen games, but will be put to the test come Friday with a weekend series against Southeastern La who is currently the conference leader and undefeated in conference. First game Friday is at 4 PM in Hammond.
  24. OSU finishes the sweep of the Cards 10-3, but the Cards do break the scoring drought.
  25. Cards winning streak up to thirteen games with a sweep of the Islanders and sole possession of second place in the conference standings. Next week is a big week for the Ladies with a mid-week game at Baylor and then a series at conference leading Southeastern La.
