  1. Men fall 78-65 at TCU. Inexperience and lack of production from the inside players allowed TCU to put a lot of defensive pressure on the Lamar guards. Rob Lee led the Cards with 26 points but most of those were in the first half. Barrs was the only other Cardinal in double figures with 14 points. A combination of rebounds and free throws was the biggest difference in the game in my opinion.
  2. Lamar offense goes stagnant allowing TCU to move out to a 64-58 lead and the ball with 6:32 left in the game. Lamar's big men are in foul trouble with Ezewiro out with five fouls and East on the bench with four.
  3. 11:53 left to play in men's game and Lamar is leading 55-52.
  4. Ladies fall by 28, K-State 89 - Lamar 61.
  5. K-State out scores Lamar by four in the third quarter to extend their lead to twenty points. 66-46
  6. TCU comes back over the last three minutes to take a one-point lead into the half. 39-38 TCU
  7. Game tied 31-31 at the under four-minute time out. Holifield on the bench with two fouls.
  8. At the under eight minute timeout Lamar has a four-point lead over TCU 24-20. Cards are playing solid defense.
  9. The size and talent difference between mid-major and power four women's teams takes over in the second quarter as K-State moves out to a 48-32 half time lead.
  10. Cards force a couple of turnovers and TCU misses a shot to take the lead 16-15 with 12:25 left in the first half.
  11. TCU jumps out to the early lead on hot shooting, making five of their first six shots including 3-3 from three-point range. 13-6 at the first media time out.
  12. Ladies have a solid opening quarter, playing to a 20-20 tie. Ladies had eight total fouls and three turnovers in the quarter.
  13. Both the men and women play Big 12 opponents this evening. Women play at Kansas St with a 6:30 tip off and the men are at TCU for a 7:00 PM contest. Both are underdogs going into the contests. KSU was a top twenty women's squad last year so this should be a big challenge for the ladies. TCU was down last year and are 1-1 so far with a loss to fellow SLC member New Orleans.
  14. Just win Lamar it makes everything better in the end. There are still some head-to-head games in other conference that can have a big impact.
  15. The IVY League is participating and gets an Auto bid, but the MEAC does not. There are eleven conferences with auto bids and two of those do not have a top 25 ranked school. That would indicate that number 23, 24 and 25 would get left out of the playoffs, but with multiple rankings to evaluate it is still a guess if your school isn't in the top 20 which puts the SLC as a potential snub for a third bid.
  16. Based on current FCS Conference Standings there are maybe 21 teams that could end the year with only three losses. The list does not include the SWAC conference as they have their own special end of year Championship game. Has the Ivy League decided to participate in the playoffs, they did not use to.
  17. Including yesterday's games there are only fourteen FCS schools with two or less losses. Only two conferences have more than two teams with two or less losses and Missouri Valley isn't one of them. This will change as either Lamar or SFA will have three losses after next Saturday, but it is getting more difficult to believe that any conference currently deserves more than three teams in the playoffs.
  18. McCown went out in the second quarter after a big hit and did not return. He managed to get off the field on his own but then was down on the sidelines for quite a while. They showed him on the sideline in the second half without his pads. Couldn't tell from what I saw of the hit if it was a body part or a head issue. He seemed to be in pain on his right side as he was exiting the game.
  19. Lamar defense holds SLU for four plays to get the ball back with under a minute and run the clock out for a 14-12 win. Other action SFA clobbered HCU so next week's game at SFA is a chance to get back to the top of the conference. Cards still have to win out to win the conference but may have secured a playoff spot.
  20. At the two-minute timeout, Lamar has a 2&7. Lamar fumbles with 1:10 left in the game at the SLU 31. Come on defense.
  21. Women fall 72-68 in overtime.
  22. SLU gets a big run to get the ball into Lamar's territory but stall out and then run a fake field goal for 22-yard touchdown to bring the score to 14-12 Lamar. Lamar stops the two-point conversion attempt. SLU to kick off to Lamar with 7:23 left in the game.
  23. On SLU's first play after receiving the kickoff Lamar makes an interception to get the ball back. Lamar fails to move the ball and miss the field goal attempt turning the ball over to SLU at their own 31-yard line.
  24. After giving up two field goals Lamar makes a sustained drive ending with a Bowden rushing touchdown to give Lamar a 14-6 lead with 12:42 left in the game.
  25. Ladies had a seven point lead with under two minutes left, but could not hold on allowing UNC to tie the game at 61. Game headed to overtime.
