Cards sweep Northwestern State over the weekend to climb into first place in the conference standings. Cards have nine conference games remaining with three at UNO followed by three at home against Southeastern La who is one game back of Lamar in the loss column and three at HCU to close out the season.

Ladies drop the final game and now sit in third place needing help and a sweep against HCU next week to get to second place for the tournament.

As of today, three Cards have entered the portal. Lowe and Rob Lee entered during the period available after Brooks was fired and Braden East put his name in early this week after the NCAA Tournament finished. I hope all three find what they are looking for, but I really hope East will return to Lamar. I have major doubts that he will return though.

Winning streak is now at fourteen games, but will be put to the test come Friday with a weekend series against Southeastern La who is currently the conference leader and undefeated in conference. Cards get the midweek win over Tarleton, but it's another one that wasn't pretty. Cards get single runs in the 3rd, 4th and 5th to take a three-run lead. Cards had a two-run lead after the fourth inning, and the Cards made a pitching change in the fifth. Relief pitcher gave up two hits but no runs in the fifth and got the first out in the sixth before giving up a run scoring double in the top of the sixth followed by another pitching change. The new pitcher gave up a couple of singles allowing the second run to score. Lamar made another pitching change in the top of the seventh getting a one, two, three inning. In the top of the eighth the relievers gave up another run to tie the game. Lamar pitching managed to keep TSU off of the scoreboard in the ninth and tenth before Lamar finally scored two runs on a walk off home run with two out. Lamar returns to action Friday evening hosting UIW.

I've seen plenty of shooters, I want to see some makers especially in clutch time.

Women dropped their first game in the same manner they lost to SFA in the conference tourney. Portland's pressure defense forced too many Lamar turnovers and Oguego never made it back from her late season ankle injury. She was a big loss.
