  1. Looks good on paper, but we will have to wait until September to see how it transfers to the field.
  2. 29 new signees today. Some really good size on both lines and a qb with some real size 6-5 220.
  3. Cards win 73-54. Although Lamar gets a win by a good scoring margin it still wasn't an easy or a smooth win. Lamar would get out to a seven-point lead or so and then go stale while SLU would work their way back to a close to even game until about a third of the way into the second half.
  4. After dropping the last two games and falling to seventh place the Cards are at home looking to even the conference record. Lamar is up by five points at the half 31-26 despite shooting a slightly lower field goal percentage than the SLU.
  5. Is the spring signing day this Wednesday?
  6. Cards fall by one point 64-63.
  7. 2:06 left and McNeese has a four-point lead 57-53. Lamar has the ball.
  8. Lamar has chipped away at the deficit and with 7:55 left in the game have a three-point lead 47-44. McNeese will be shooting free throws coming out of the timeout.
  9. Men's game is close through almost all of the first half but McNeese gets the last seven points of the half including a half-court shot at the end of the half to take an eight-point lead into the half 31.23. Lamar shooting a poor 26% from the field.
  10. Ladies unable to close the gap in the fourth quarter and fall 64-52. Lamar shoots a miserable 1-18 from the three-point line.
  11. Lamar cuts the McNeese lead in half during the third quarter. Now down by eleven. 49-38
  12. I didn't remember hearing that McNeese had hired the Southeastern La. head coach away from Southeastern. There must be some money being put up in Lake Chuck. Also, she brought several of her players from SLU with her. Explains the big turnaround from the past years.
  13. Ladies tipped off at three PM and McNeese is out to a strong start forcing many turnovers leading 41-19 at the half. The only stat Lamar is leading in is rebounds.
  14. Whether it is coaching or talent I don't know but Lamar still has big steps to take to get to the next level. I think expectations going into the season was twenty wins and in the top three for the regular season along with another trip to the championship game for the tournament. A top three finish is probably unreachable at this point, a twenty win season is also a big stretch as Lamar will need to win nine of the last ten games including away games at three schools they could have defeated at home but didn't and repeat games against both of the top two teams in the conference standings.
  15. Lamar stays out of foul trouble in the second half and slowly builds a lead to get an 82-61 lead. Lee leads the way scoring 28 points, East gets a double double. Holifield just misses double figures. Couple of observations, first haven't seen Barrs play since Christmas break, is he injured or has he left the team. Also Knight has missed both of the last two games. Now for those that have played, Lamar needs their bench players to score. Lowe passes up wide open shots, mid-way through the shot clock and the Cards end up forcing a shot as the clock runs out. The other non-starters need to make their shots. Gambrell and Knight both shooting less than 35%.
  16. After a good shooting and scoring start Lamar hangs on for a two-point lead at the half 35-33. East picked up his second foul with about 13:30 left in the half and Lee picked up a second foul with ten minutes left in the half. Both of them sat out the remainder of the half and Lamar's offense went stale and the shooting percentage went down also.
  17. Cards off to a good start making three three-pointers in the first four minutes and out to a 14-5 lead.
  18. SFA comes back with another three pointer to retake the lead following a timeout.
  19. With 12:17 left in the game Lamar is up by one point 58-57 on a Lowe three pointer, a steal and a dunk by Pennebaker. Big move by Lamar.
  20. Lamar closes out the half with about a sixty-foot heave from Lowe that goes through with the clock at zero to finish the half only down two points 43-41.
  21. Men are down by five points with 3:56 left in the first half. SFA has been shooting an outstanding 63% from the field on nine of fourteen three point attempts. Many of those have been with a hand in their face. Lamar is shooting a reasonable 41%.
  22. Ladies get a hard fought ten-point win over the Lady Jacks 73-63. Cards defense was solid and held SFA under their scoring average. Wilson was the leading scorer with 29 points followed by Denley with ten points as the only two Lamar players in double figures. Lamar had a 43-26 edge in rebounding.
  23. Lamar men and women host SFA Saturday beginning with the women tipoff at one PM. Both games are big ones with the women tied for second in the conference one game back of McNeese. The men are a little further back of first place SFA and must win if they want a chance to climb back to the top or at least be in the top four when the conference tournament gets here.
  24. Lamar falls by thirteen 89-76. Cardinals couldn't overcome the foul trouble. Lamar finished the game shooting 39% from the field, but UNO shot better at 54%. Lamar made seven more three-pointers than UNO but in the end when UNO shot twenty-five more free throws than Lamar it's just hard to overcome.
  25. Lamar down by seven with 8:15 left in the game. Although the total fouls for both teams aren't that for apart, Lamar is getting called for ticky tack fouls that UNO isn't. Lamar also not shooting a good enough percentage, shooting 33% so far in the game.
