  1. On the next possession Lamar fumble on their third play turning the ball back over to SLU at the Lamar twenty four. Defense does a good job of holding SLU and forcing a 28-yard field goal to bring the score to 7-6 Lamar wit 8:15 remaining in the third quarter.
  2. SLU takes the opening drive of the second half and with a couple of big runs move the ball to the Lamar 33-yard line before settling for a fifty yard field goal to close the score to 7-3 with 11:42 left in the third quarter.
  3. Cards have a strong third quarter to get back up 49-33.
  4. Touchdown Lamar with 21 seconds left in the first half on a Coleman to Hyder for nine yards and Lamar takes a 7-0 lead into the half.
  5. Back and forth defensive struggle to finish the first quarter and for most of the second. McCown took a real hard hit and went out of the game. At the two-minute mark Lamar is on a strong drive and are in scoring position.
  6. UNC comes back in the second quarter out scoring LU 23-16 to take a 30-29 lead into the half.
  7. Two thirds of the way through the first quarter Lamar has had three possessions without a first down. McCown led the first two possessions but 0-3 in pass attempts. Coleman had the last drive and Lamar only ran the ball, granted the last possession had bad field position aggravated with a holding penalty. SLU also went three and out on their first possession, but had a good drive on their second with three big plays stalling at the LU eight yard line.
  8. Lamar takes the first quarter leading 13-7.
  9. Streak is over, lady's fall at UNO in three sets.
  10. Game time 3 PM Saturday. If you didn't recognize it when the schedule came out, by now you realize from the sometimes fans point of view the season rests on how Lamar competes over the next three weeks. The Cards blew the first big game with UIW but if they can win out then a playoff game is guaranteed and possibly a home game. To get to the point where there are more than 10,000 attending Lamar needs to close out this season strongly. SLU appears to be the best team in the conference not named Lamar, but they don't have to prove it by playing all of the top teams. Lamar needs to step up a notch in all aspects of the game.
  11. Lamar takes on TCU next Monday. Interestingly enough, New Orleans upset them this evening so next week may give an early sense of the strength of the conference.
  12. Final Lamar 93 - A&M SA 53.
  13. Four minutes left and Lamar up 87-43. Announcers said Knight wasn't dressed out today.
  14. 15:30 left in the game and Lamar has held A&M SA scoreless while scoring 12 so far. 58-12. BB Knight is he one player I haven't seen that I expected to.
  15. Couldn't catch the beginning of the game but made it at about the thirteen minute mark. Game going about as expected. At the half Lamar is up 46-26. All of the guards appear more than willing to take a shot. The big guys are playing pretty good defense, but offense is still developing. The redshirt freshman Gambrell is the leading scorer with 16 points followed by Holifield with 15 and three others have scored.
  16. Men tip off today at 11 AM. Shouldn't be much more than a scrimmage, but you never know. Will be nice to watch how this team develops and where their strengths might be.
  17. I am not a Coleman fan, but I question the play calling. Seems like Lamar was back to the we're going to establish the run game mode and didn't give Coleman a chance to develop a passing attack until it was too late. Lamar didn't try to pass until it was an oh it's third and forever so let's pass before we punt the two series that McCown was in either. Maybe they were protecting McCown's shoulder but if he wasn't ready to pass, he shouldn't have been in the game.
  18. Volleyball continues to get big wins with another three-set win over Nicholls. That's nine. Next up a revenge opportunity against SLU.
  19. Lamar finally executes a positive offensive drive to get a touchdown with 12:46 left in the game.
  20. Looks like the blowout I was concerned about is underway. Poor execution, lack of creative play calling and self-inflicted mistakes. The old Lamar Cardinals may be back. Defense hasn't done anything special either.
  21. UIW finishes the first half with a 45-yard pass with 38 seconds left to take a 21-3 lead.
  22. Lamar makes a quick drive to finally show a little offense but come up short on another third down and settle for a field goal with 3:36 left in the half.
  23. UIW takes the ball after Lamar fails on fourth and one, with another drive and score to go up 14-0 with 6:48 left in the half. No offense Lamar better find some.
  24. Not a good start for Lamar. LU goes three and out on their first three possessions. UIW made a nice drive on their first possession for a touchdown and the lead. Coleman started and led the first two possessions for Lamar; McCown came in for the third possession. End of the first quarter.
  25. Don't say I agree but, Coleman was the starter before getting hurt and while I think McCown is the better choice a lot of coaches don't believe a starter should lose their job because of injury once they're healthy again and McCown may not have had a full week of practice.
