Hate to hear that about Knight but that answers why we haven't seen him the last few games. Is there a chance Gambrel will make it back this year or is he using it as a redshirt? Also, it would be nice if the program gave these updates.
  2. With a five-game winning streak, the Cards will travel to Lubbock Saturday for a noon contest with the Red Raiders. Their top four scorers are all transfers. Size wise it looks like the Cards match up reasonably well. It should be a very tough game for Lamar, but a win looks possible. It will take a supreme effort from every player.
  3. Ladies will close out their non-conference schedule Saturday the 21st against Northern Colorado at home with a 1 PM start time.
  4. Lamar hangs on to win by four points 66-62.
  5. Southern Miss went on a run with about seven minutes left in the half to take a five point lead but then Lamar returned the favor closing out the half on a run to retake the lead by five at the half. Lamar 36 - SM 31.
  6. Through the first eight minutes of play Lamar is up 16-11. Lamar has more turnovers than you would like to see, but they have also forced five fouls on Southern Miss.
  7. A loss is never really good, but I would say the ladies played a good game. Davis may struggle just a little when the opposing team's post player is taller than she is, but how often will that happen in conference? Weems had a good game scoring wise.
  8. Ladies played tough the first quarter but trail 17-13. Davis picked up a foul and went out about half way through the quarter which really seemed to hurt. Tech is taller at every position than Lamar and are just about if not as quick as Lamar. This will be a great game if Lamar can stay close.
  9. Cards will go after their fifth straight win Tuesday at Southern Miss with a 7 PM tip off.
  10. Lady Cards play a morning start in Lubbock versus Texas Tech. 11:30 AM Tuesday start.
  11. The SLC needs to figure out what it takes to get out of the bottom of the rankings. Five schools below 250 really hurts as you get into conference games. Hard to improve and easy to loose ground in the rankings for the rest of the year.
  12. Women win another game with ease, even with Davis only scoring two points and grabbing six rebounds. Lot of turnovers in this game so guards did a lot of the scoring on fast breaks.
  13. Apparently SDS learned more from the early season game than UIW did.
  14. Cardinals get another big road game win at Lafayette 74-45. Cardinals dominated the paint with a 15-rebound edge, eight blocked shots and a twenty-two point in the paint edge. Lamar only committed nine turnovers for the game. In fact the only place Lamar didn't perform well was at the free throw line where the Cards only shot 7-15. Lamar's next game is at Southern Mississippi next Tuesday.
  15. 9:44 left in the game and Lamar has extended their lead to twenty-five points 56-31.
  16. Solid first half for Lamar ending with a 33-22 lead. Cardinals force seven turnovers while committing five. Defense holds Cajuns to 26% field goal shooting and shooting 47%.
  17. Lamar returns to action with a noon tip off at Lafayette against the Cajuns. Lamar out to an early lead 7-2.
  18. Ladies play at UTRGV tomorrow at 2 PM.
  19. Still need all conference teams upping their schedules and winning against D-1 competition.
  20. Both Tarleton State and Abilene Christian had leads in their games but came up short in the end.
  21. Cards shot 57.8% from the field including 46.2 from the three-point line. Lamar had more assists than turnovers and won the battle of the boards by six. Really no area that Lamar didn't play a good game in today. If I am looking for something to criticize at all it would be that White needs to be a little more aggressive on offense. He seems to look more to give up the ball than score, which when the opponent recognizes that has a tendency to lead to a turnover. Four players in double figures for Lamar.
  22. Maybe not quite as good of second half as the first, but nothing to complain about as Lamar wins 84-52.
  23. Marmolejos leads the Cards with ten points followed by nine each from both Jackson and Holyfield. Holyfield also leads Lamar in rebounding with five. Cards are shooting 55% compared to 30% for UTRGV and Lamar is taking care of the ball with only five turnovers.
  24. Lamar plays an outstanding first half despite both Hamilton and Bulajic sitting most of the half with two fouls each. Hamilton played a total of six minutes and Bulajic played four. Lamar is up 46-23 at the half.
  25. UIW avoids the bye week jinx with a 13-6 win over Villanova. UIW will play South Dakota State in a rematch of their week 2 loss to the defending champs.
