  1. Lamar continued their good play finishing the game with a 58-46 win. A question is if there is something wrong with the Davis. She picked up her third foul about mid-way in the third quarter and then didn't return until late in the fourth quarter.
  2. Ladies are at Northwestern St on Thursday evening. Started out slow falling behind by twelve 20-8 at the end of the first quarter. Davis got in foul trouble and sat much of the first half. NWST was up by ten at the half 29-19. Lamar has come out with new energy in the third quarter and with 5:34 left in the quarter have tied the game at 31. Davis has picked up her third foul, but two of NWST's top players have picked up their third fouls also.
  3. Cards get their fourth win with a 12-1 victory over Nicholls to start the second week of the season Thursday evening.
  4. Lamar wins 67-56 to maintain a tie for second place with SLU but would currently be seeded third for the tournament. Jackson lead Lamar in scoring with 15 and Hamilton wound up just short of a double-double with nine points and ten rebounds. Next game will be Saturday at Commerce.
  5. 3:53 left and the Cards are currently up by eight. 52-44. Every time the Cards seem to be pulling away the Cards either make a sloppy play that gives the Islander's a chance to get the game down to just a possession or two or the Islander's hit a big three.
  6. Cards are up by five at the half 31-26. Lamar has made five of eight three-point attempts. Cards are a little on the sloppy side with seven turnovers.
  7. Cards taking on the Islanders, trying for the regular season sweep. With 11:18 left in the first half the Cards are up by seven 17-10.
  8. Cards have a good opening weekend winning three games before falling to UT. Even in the UT game Lamar managed to get out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second and held the lead through the third inning before Texas got a home run in the top of the fourth to tie the game. Texas added two in the fifth, three in the sixth and seven in the seventh to fall behind 13-1. Lamar manages to score six runs in the bottom of the seventh against the third and fourth pitchers of the game for Texas but still fall 13-7. Overall, a successful weekend for the Cards.
  9. Lamar got up by as much as eleven points before RGV claws back to tie the game at 68 with 1.5 seconds left. Jackson throws the ball the length of the floor trying to get it to Hamilton, but the ball bounces off of the back board into Holifield's hands and he was able to make a short jumper for the win. 70-68
  10. Lamar up by five at the half 38-33. Lamar shooting just a little better than RGV but overall a near equal game. No foul trouble for either team.
  11. Cards taking on UTRGV for the second time this year. Cards won big at RGV in December. 7:25 left in the first half and the Cards are up 22-19.
  12. Cards make a valiant comeback in the fourth quarter, but RGV makes the last basket with three seconds on the clock to upset Lamar 58-56.
  13. Saturday February 8th with the Cards taking on UTRGV finds the Cards down by eight points at the half 31-23. Abnormally slow start for the Cards getting out shot, out rebounded and allowing RGV to shoot to many free throws.
  14. Correction to earlier post, this was the first meeting of the year for the ladies versus A&M CC. They will meet again to close out the year.
  15. Ladies win a hard-fought game against A&M CC. The Islanders kept it close most of the night before the Cards built a nine-point lead in the third quarter and got the lead to as high as twelve. Then the Islander forced some turnovers to close the gap to as small as three in the last few minutes of the game. Over the last minute the two teams traded points with the Islanders getting field goals and the Cards hitting clutch free throws. Final score 63-57
  16. Ladies return to action Thursday February 6th with a 7 PM home tipoff against Corpus Christi. Lamar won the first meeting but must overcome two straight losses and get back on the winning path to maintain a two-game lead over the third-place teams.
  17. Both Martin and Jenkins are signed as of 12:30 PM. Three new QBs on the list, two transfers and a freshman. Two are 6'3" so good size.
  18. Cards just can't get a good lead. J Buckley who played for the Cards last year had a big game for SLU winds up the leading scorer as the Lions win 81-79. Cards are now tied for second place, but drop the tie breaker for seeding in the tournament with SLU as this is the only regular season game between the two teams.
  19. 6:06 left in the game and SLU up by two with a free throw to shoot after this timeout, 68-66. Lamar did get a brief one-point lead but haven't been able to get more than a one possession lead.
  20. One thing for sure, SLU has as big-time home team bias as any school. Every foul called against SLU is questionable and every mishandled ball should have been a foul.
  21. SLU up by six at the half. 40-34, difference in the game at the free throw line as SLU has six more made than Lamar. SLU also up by nine in rebounding. Jackson, White and Holifield each have two fouls.
  22. Cards in a back-and-forth game with SLU trailing by four at the last media timeout of the first half. 36-32. Lamar has a trouble whenever the opponent has taller guards out front.
  23. With the Lamar win and both HCU and A&M Corpus Christi losing today the Cards are in second place by themselves two games back of McNeese.
  24. Lamar hangs on to win 67-62.
  25. Lamar up 62-56 with 3:06 left in the game. Last media time out. Cardinals up to fifteen turnovers for the game
