I know this isnt the correct area for this topic, but The Red Zone is our most viewed forum and I want to attempt at jump starting our fantasy football coverage that really begins this week. These guys bust their tails to provide info for fantasy players and for this week only I may link the Doc's gameday diagnosis and a few other items in The Red Zone. Remember, info like this from the guys can be viewed regularly in our Fantasy Nation Forum. LINK: Week, 1 Gameday Diagnosis

If you are a statistics nut, here's a good site for NCAA Football data this year. Link: http://web1.ncaa.org/mfb/mainpage.jsp One of the things I learned was that Lamar's official attendance of 15,367 on Saturday ranked 12th highest in total attendance for Division I (FCS) for the week. In terms of capacity, the official attendance put us up to 7th in FCS.* Too bad the weather kept most of those fans away from the game. If not we would have seen the near capacity game that we were all expecting. Also, I found out that UTSA's attendance ranked 25th highest in the FBS.* *The listing only covers the week through 9/3 so it does not include the games played o…

We keep a close eye on things here and these two players are definitely new additions to the active roster since last week. And were not listed on the preferred walk-on list. Looking at last year's boxscore from the South Alabama game, the 26-0 score is a little deceptive. They ran all over Lamar but only scored 2 touchdowns. The defense was a little banged up and Dorsey did not even play. The defense is healthy and deeper this year so I don't see Lamar giving up that many yards. J.J. Hayes was hurt and didn't play. We know the offensive line was having trouble and Lamar had no running game. Also, Lamar had 5 fumbles and lost 4 of them. I don't see that happening this year. I'm expecting a good close game Saturday. South Alabama is probably the favorite to win but Lamar should be able to win this one if they don't make many mistak…

It looks like South Alabama struggled to win against West Alabama (Div II) to a score of 20-10. South Alabama's QB gave us 3 INTs and no TDs. I hope Lamar can learn from the game tapes, especially from West Alabama's defense. http://scores.espn.go.com/ncf/boxscore?gameId=312440006

BEAUMONT - Braving a steady and driving rain and winds that gusted up to 30 miles an hour at times, the Lamar University Cardinals opened their 2011 season with a decisive 58-0 victory over Texas College. Although the inclement weather kept thousands of Lamar fans at home (sill, the paid attendance was 15,367), the Cardinals put on an impressive performance, one that included a four-touchdown 105-yard rushing performance by Navarro College transfer DePauldrick Garrett, who starred at nearby West Orange-Stark High School, Garrett's four touchdowns set a Lamar record, and his 24 points surpassed Harold LaFitte's 46-year-old school record of 20 set in a 1965 game again…
