  5. As of today, three Cards have entered the portal. Lowe and Rob Lee entered during the period available after Brooks was fired and Braden East put his name in early this week after the NCAA Tournament finished. I hope all three find what they are looking for, but I really hope East will return to Lamar. I have major doubts that he will return though.

Cards have nine conference games remaining with three at UNO followed by three at home against Southeastern La who is one game back of Lamar in the loss column and three at HCU to close out the season.

  8. Cards will take on McNeese starting on Thursday for the tournament championship. Lamar defeated SLU twice to get to the championship round. McNeese swept Lamar on the opening week of the regular season, so we will see if Lamar improved enough over the course of the season to earn a trip to the NCAA.

Since it's been confirmed that Alvin Brooks won't be returning, it's time to talk about what we see as the new direction. If the rumors are true the new coach will have a good NIL budget to pull from. Do you see them going after an assistant from a power conference school? Up and coming coach from a smaller program? You tell me.

Lamar women got an invitation to the WNIT which currently is the third-tier post season tournament below the NCAA and WBIT. Lamar women received a first round bye and will play the winner of the Sam Houston and Portland game scheduled for Thursday the 19th. Lamar's game will be between this coming Sunday the 22nd and next Tuesday.

Cards host Northwestern St with seven games remaining including this one. Lamar is currently in seventh place and no chance to get to the top of the conference before the tournament. That said Lamar plays all four of the teams between them and third place in the remaining games, so Lamar can climb up the seeding chart. Apparently, Lee and Holifield are somewhat in the doghouse as neither of them started the game. To me Lamar is missing guys that will or can make the contested shot consitently.

  23. BEAUMONT, Texas – Lamar University football added 29 players – six signees and 23 transfers – to the 2026 roster announced head coach Pete Rossomando during his National Signing Day Press Conference Wednesday afternoon. The newest additions bring the Cardinals' entire 2025-26 signing class to 40 (17 signees and 23 transfers). The transfers during the late signing period include four from the junior college level and 19 from four-year schools. Among the four-year transfers, 11 make their way to the Golden Triangle from NCAA FBS level schools. Both women and men fall at SFA. Women fell on a last .8 second inbound long three-point shot following a Lamar free throw miss and a timeout to get the ball to half court for the inbound. Men fall by ten points but get an outstanding performance from East with thirty-three points and ten rebounds. Problem was no help from the normal scorers and apparently Brooks decided that three of the starters didn't deserve to play for most of the second half. Lee and Wilhite both ended the game with zero points and Holifield only scored five. Those three also each played eighteen or less minutes.

After dropping the last two games and falling to seventh place the Cards are at home looking to even the conference record. Lamar is up by five points at the half 31-26 despite shooting a slightly lower field goal percentage than the SLU.
