Lady Cards Offer Family Pack for Dec 29 Game from lamarcardinals.com If anyone hasn't had a chance to check out this year's Lady Cardinals, Sunday's 2:00pm game against Rice looks like a great opportunity. It would be great to have a good crowd on hand. Sounds like a fun game to me. They would be great for late purchases too. :) http://www.lamarcardinals.com/sports/w-baskbl/spec-rel/122113aaa.html The Lady Cards and Owls have had one common opponent. Both defeated Texas State in home games. Rice won 74-61. The Lady Cards won 68-55. The Owls are 5-6 while the Lady Cards are 5-5. The Owls have split against SLC teams defeating McNeese 65-54 in Lake Charl…

In another post, Lamar1 wondered how our spending in basketball compared with the other universities in our conference. Below is the comparison. The data source is the US Department of Education "Equity in Athletics Data Analysis Cutting Tool". (Coachacola provided a link to it in a recent post.) Men's Basketball Operating Expenses Total MBB Expenses Non Gameday Reporting Period (Gameday Expenses) Lamar $249,525 $1,379,801 $1,130,276 9/1/12-8/31/13 Sam Houston State $216,658 866,568 649,910 9/1/12-8/31/13 Stephen F Austin $574,739 1,187,191 613,452 9/1/12-8/…

I'm not a fan of Bob West's cookbook-style columns, but I found this interesting: One of my all-time best sources says Ray Woodard probably coached his last football game at Lamar University Saturday night, even if the Cardinals managed to upset McNeese State. The source cited lack of attendance, especially among LU students, as well as not winning enough games. Woodard, who was 18-27 entering the McNeese game, took on the challenge of bringing Cardinals football back after the program had been shut down in 1989. According to the source, an annoucement on the change could come as early as today. If Lamar did knock off McNeese

If this team can protect the ball they will win a lot of games. The three-point shooting has improved, but there's too much inconsistency defensively. True, height is an issue but I seem to remember some of Billy Tubbs' teams that were height-challenged and were successful. Not quite ready to write this team off just yet, but they must improve a whole lot, play consistent defense, cut down on turnovers, and Mitchell MUST play a whole lot more in control. Positives: the comeback; Hillard is a beast - no question he is the leader; 3-point shooting Negatives: rebounding (not as much); turnovers (a whole lot); inconsistent play from some I'm sure there are other ide…

HJ Senior Zjori Bosha has been gaining steam on the recruiting trail this summer. Recently in an AAU tournament in Las Vegas Bosha's AAU coach started getting inquiries from some familiar faces as well as some Big D1 schools. Teams included are Pitt, South Carolina, Houston, Navy, Sam Houston State and McNeese State. Bosha is a 6'5 PG/SG. My question is when will LAMAR start looking at this local talent?????

Let's hear it. No use in dancing around it. Cards go 5-7 and if we didn't schedule the three high schools we would be 2-10. Are we satisfied with this? Do I think we have the kids to do better ? YES....I tell you now from the way we played in some really big games, coaching, coaching, coaching lost those games. Kueck can't break down a defense and find out how to beat them. Does the same ole stupid stuff. Asked to leave at the high school level and we hire him..HMM?? Woodard doesn't sack Kueck then sack them both...

http://www.collegesportsmadness.com/article/8032 Jesse Dickson named Defensive Player of the Year Kahler and McGlothen were first team selections. Harrington was Freshman of the Year and 2nd team RB Caleb Berry(behind only Bennett of Southeastern), Begelton and Johnson made 2nd team. Roberts, Gillam, Washington made the 3rd teams I think these guys did a much better job at the selections than the Southland Conference
