Moved out of the GT area in October and haven't kept up with sports down there very much. Noticed Lamar's BB record is awful! Actually since Knight arrived. What gives? Knight could be a worse hire than what UNT did last year when we had to replace Johnny Jones(to LSU), and brought in some Asst spare from Marquette. Disaster that continues this year! But Lamar? Any chance Knight's contract can be bought out? Feel you pain Cardinal fans.

Hey gang. Rough season so far, but you're about to play a team that lost to Incarnate Word by 23...at home...for UIW's first DI win. So who knows what to expect from either team on Thursday. To make us all feel better (or worse, now that I think about it) we've posted a couple videos today featuring local news highlights of a pair of Lamar/UNO games from the 80s when we battled for American South titles. Enjoy. http://www.PrivateerIsland.net

  10. Started by sleepy,

Last night while watching the news there was an interview with Pat Knight. He said he was sick of hearing fans complain and don't come if they don't like it. This guy thinks he is bigger and better than Lamar when you say something like this. Lamar has never had a coach act like this towards the fans. When you have won 5 games in 2 years you should expect criticism and take alot better than he is. Completely ridiculous for anyone to tell the few fans that are coming basically not to come if they don't like it. Unheard of!!!!!

Has Lamar ever fired a basketball coach before the season ends? If not, this would be a good season to start.

Time to give the ladies team more love. Massey Ratings has them favored to win the remaining conference games. http://www.lamarcardinals.com/sports/w-baskbl/recaps/010914aaa.html

So guys, how long does PK get? This team is dreadfull and have zero talented D1 players. They are young and small, slow and cant shoot. Do not see it getting any better. Thoughts? Cplatt

Nichols up by 2 at halftime. I haven't seen the team play much this year but it is easy to see why they have only won one game. Way too many turnovers. They play defense for a while then let the other team have wide open 3 point shots. Nichols scored the last two points of the half by taking the ball the full court and scoring on an uncontested layups - all in a few seconds. The rebounding effort looks OK. For the most part they are taking good shots. Those turnovers just kill them. This is a game they have a chance of winning - hope they can.

Overall ladies played a solid game even though Gia Ayers fouled out and was in deep foul trouble most of the 2nd half. Jamesha Edwards stepped up big time to finish with 28 points.

  20. Started by geezer,

While it appears highly unlikely based on performance year to date, it is time for LU to win one. Negatives, NWST lost at home Thursday, NWST projected in top tier of SLC, bench is probably much better than LU and used much more aggressively to wear down opponents. Positive, we are not totally over matched from a height stand point.

  22. I know there's a lot of griping about PK not recruiting local kids. Take a read of this article and give your thoughts: http://www.beaumontenterprise.com/sports/lamar/article/Is-Lamar-basketball-recruiting-enough-local-5091455.php My take: The football and basketball program have and will always have the same issue; that a lot - not all - but a lot of local kids would rather go elsewhere - and may have the talent to do so - than to go to Lamar. I used to have the same opinion as most here, but the more I read and have heard over the many years that Lamar will not ever get as many of the local talent as we the fans would like. There is really nothing in Beaumont…

  24. Started by LUSportsFan,

It's a little early since the game is this Saturday (December 28) at 3:00pm CST in Fort Collins. I'm in Colorado and am hoping to make the game so I have been looking at CSU. Below is some information. 1. Elevation could be a factor. I hope Coach Knight gets the team here early in order to acclimate to the elevation. Fort Collins is at 5,003 ft. This is a nice place for the holidays. Old Town Fort Collins is very nice. 2. The Rams should be familiar with Moby arena. The Rams have only played two away games so far this year. Both away games were losses. One was in Spokane against Sagarin #24 Gonzaga (61-93). The other was in El Paso against the Sagarin #110 UTE…
