  1. Men open the record this evening against NAIA school Paul Quinn. Tip of is at 7 PM.
  2. Ladies win 98-62. Solid win to open the season before heading for road games against power conference teams Texas and SMU.
  3. Ladies added three players to replace three that either graduated or left. Two of the three new players have played significant minutes with both transfer Justice Ross and true freshman Kamryn Wilson providing both scoring and defense.
  4. Lady Cards up by 24 at the half.
  5. Women opening their season this morning against NAIA Texas A&M - San Antonio. Question for those that normally post, should we do individual game threads or just do this thread as a season running thread? Maybe as the season goes on there will be some games warranting an individual thread but my opinion is that it would be easier to keep up with just the one thread depending on how long it gets or how much activity is posted each game.
  6. As a senior, at least the second one shouldn't happen. He probably could have gotten a first down had he just continued running.
  7. UIW defeated HCU 45-20 SFA defeated Nicholls 28-12 McNeese defeated Commerce 31-3 And Lamar falls.
  8. It's just my opinion, but I think Lamar's biggest problem and that includes at least in part coaching is that they have put to much emphasis on a dual threat quarterback that is a runner first. The only year Lamar was really successful was with Caleb Berry and he was a throwing quarterback that could run if he had too. Fortunately, he didn't have to on a regular base as Harrington took care of that. With the running backs that Lamar has now they shouldn't need the quarterback to run, but they do need him to make good decisions and be an effective passer.
  9. Lamar fails to get a touchdown, being forces to go for the field goal to take the lead and force SLU to score a touchdown to win. Unfortunately, SLU is able to get the touchdown to win the game.
  10. Lamar is on offense first.
  11. SLU executes a good two-minute offense and ties the game up at 24 as the clock runs out. Lamar did get called for a pass interference that gave them an extra first down but my opinion I wouldn't call it a defensive mistake.
  12. Longino hit Fuselier for a go-ahead touchdown with 1:18 left in the game down by three. Lamar 24 - SLU 21
  13. Lamar changes quarterbacks for the drive after losing the lead. With Longino the Cards go three and out. Longino may be " a dual threat" but not really, he is a runner and has happy feet, not willing to wait for the receivers to get open.
  14. Lamar hasn't stopped making mistakes. After getting a field goal to extend the lead in the third quarter, SLU goes on a long drive to close the gap to 17-14. Then on the ensuing Lamar drive Coleman throws another interception setting SLU up for a go-ahead touchdown at the end of the quarter. Start of the fourth quarter Lamar trailing 21-17.
  15. Only four conference matches this week. At the end of three quarters UIW is up big on HCU. Lamar is up by seven over SLU and just ahead of the half SFA is defeating Nicholls. Commerce plays McNeese this evening.
  16. Cards score again with 2:20 left in the half to retake the lead at 14-7.
  17. Lamar continuing to play well overall, defense is stopping SLU and offense is moving the ball well, but Lamar has two turnovers with the second a pic six to put SLU on the board and tie the game at 7-7 at the 14:07 mark of the 2nd quarter.
  18. 7-0Good start for the Cards. Lamar kicks off, then stops SLU. Receives the punt at their own 22 and drive the ball down the field for a touchdown run by Coleman to take the early lead 7-0 with 9:44 in the first quarter.
  19. Soccer ends the regular season with a tie versus UIW and a tie for seventh place in the conference standings. Cards will play Corpus in the first round of the conference tournament.
  20. Just like your comment on the other thread, you have to win games you're not supposed to and against non-conference teams.
  21. Four players did not play, Pennebaker and Knight (returning), Gambrell and Jeffries (freshman), all are guards. Of the two returning players neither were capable of carrying the team last year. Looking at the stats Lamar is missing an inside game. The bigger players that played were all in foul trouble. Hamilton only played ten minutes and did not score. Unless this performance was a fluke, this will be another disappointing season, and it is past time to be finding a new coach.
  22. Ouch, Lamar falls 83-80 to non-division one program. Appears to be similar issues to last years team, turnovers, poor defense.
  23. Only live stats to go by, but Lamar up by nine points at the half. Offense is scoring, but LSUA is scoring also. Junior transfer Marmolejos is leading all scorers with 17 points in fifteen minutes of playing time and is 5-7 on three point attempts. Looking forward to hearing from those that could attend this game.
  24. All four remaining games are most likely tough, but all look winnable. The reality is the Cards can go anywhere from 4-0 and conference champions to 0-4 and conference duds. Contenders or pretenders?
  25. My opinion, but Anderson is the biggest loss and at least he didn't go to another conference team. Maybe there is a chance to get Lekic back and a year at Kilgore will get him needed playing time.
