  1. I think Lamar would have had to win against both SFA and SLU to have a chance to get in. 9-3
  2. Unbelievable, Lamar comes back to score the winning touchdown on an untimed down with a twenty-yard pass from Longino to Fusilier. Fusilier is a stud receiver. Final score Lamar 26 - McNeese 22.
  3. Coleman completes a forty one yard pass to Rhea for a touchdown with 6:10 left in the first half to move ahead 17-0.
  4. Cards defense playing well so far. Griffin is not playing tonight, but Lamar is still running the ball pretty well. Coleman had a fifty-four yard run to set up the first touchdown.
  5. Cards fall to Alabama St 77-75. Lamar was ahead for a good portion of the game but hit about a three-minute scoring drought with about nine minutes left to give up the lead and never were able to regain the lead. Lamar had four more turnovers than ASU and shot a few percentage points poorer to make the difference.
  6. Doesn't really have anything to do with the Lamar game but UIW had a surprisingly hard game against Commerce. UIW was behind going into the fourth quarter but scored three times to get the win.
  7. Cards fall by seven points in their game against Akron. Cards cut the turnovers down to three for the second half and managed to close the gap just a little. It's just my opinion but so far, I don't see the attitude and intensity it takes from these guys on defense. Lamar still doesn't have a three or four position player that can drive to the basket and hit enough mid-range shots to open the lane for others to drive. Tomorrow's game tips off at 7:30 PM against Alabama State, hopefully the Cards have what it takes to get a win.
  8. Ladies fall in overtime 54-56.
  9. Women give up their lead over about the last six minutes of the game, but are able to end the fourth quarter with a 46-46 tie. Heading to overtime.
  10. Third quarter saw the lead drop by two points.
  11. Ladies continue to lead, expanding the lead to eleven points 28-17 at the half.
  12. Cards down by twelve at the half, but if they can control their turnovers and rebound a little more effectively this game is well within reach.
  13. At the under four-minute timeout Cards are down by nine points 24-15. In general the Cards are getting out hustled. Thirteen turnovers and getting out rebounded.
  14. Lamar off to a bad start. Cards have eight turnovers in the first ten minutes and shooting in the mid 30% range.
  15. After the first quarter Lamar is up 16-9. Only three Cards have scored so far, Dean has eight, Davis has six and Taylor has two.
  16. Investment in the baseball program is great. From the press release and the rendering provided it doesn't look like it is a direct part of the stadium. So while I think it is great to give the student athletes improved facilities, I hope it also improves the fan experience for those that attend the games.
  17. Men open a three-game string of games in Akron Ohio this evening beginning with Akron University at 5 PM this evening. The Zips currently sit at 1-2 on the season with losses to Arkansas St and St Mary's. This is potentially a winnable game but will take a strong effort. The rest of the weekend includes an evening game tomorrow versus Alabama State and a Sunday morning game versus Omaha. My opinion a good weekend will be to win two and winning all three would be great.
  18. Women return to action this afternoon 11/22 at SMU with a 4:30 PM tip off.
  19. Cards travel across the river to McNeese on Saturday for a 7 PM game. This will be the last game of the season and with a win Lamar will tie SFA for third place and a loss will move Lamar down to a tie for fifth place possibly with multiple teams. McNeese is sitting in the same place so add one more thing to the rivalry. Will it be a 7-5 season and the first time since the 1960's that Lamar has had two winning seasons in a row or a breakeven 6-6 and at least some disappointment compared to some expectations.
  20. Lamar falls by thirteen. 85-72
  21. After starting the game 1-10 from the field and getting down by as many as fifteen points nearly midway through the first half, Lamar finally starts hitting some field goals and tightening up their defense to close the gap to four points at the half. Sam Houston is up 41-37.
  22. Cards renew rivalry with Sam Houston with a 4 PM game against Sam Houston.
  23. Lamar wins 24-7. Next week Lamar will finish up at McNeese in a game with a lot to play for. The Cards are 6-5 overall and 3-3 in conference, so a winning record is still achievable and a tie for third place is possible. Ironically McNeese sits with the same record so they have a lot to play for also and it is a rivalry game on top of that. Game time next week is listed as 7 PM.
  24. With 6:27 left in the game Coleman connects with Gibbs for a touchdown and a 24-7 lead.
  25. Lamar goes sixty-six yards on their second possession of the second half ending in a touchdown pass from Coleman to Griffin. Fusilier had two big receptions on the drive. Cards up 17-7 with 5:55 left in the third quarter.
