  1. Cards split there two mid-week games with a loss to Houston and a victory over Prairie View A&M.
  2. Lamar announces another piece to the 25-26 season puzzle. Rob Lee is a transfer from Wayne State. Cardinals Hit Portal to Strengthen Backcourt - Lamar University Athletics Wayne State is a D-2 college. Probably similar to Dawsey from last year but a junior instead of a senior transfer.
  3. Northwestern State takes game three. This loss really hurts Lamar's chance for getting one of the two top seeds for the conference tournament and unfortunately probably also makes a really small chance of Lamar getting an at large berth to the NCAA Tournament. Cards still have three conference series to play and four mid-week games with three of them against Power Conference schools to close the regular season but the pitching will really need to step up.
  4. That will be up to those that haven't suited up yet as usual. If I remember correctly, Gambrell was a big-time scorer in high school. Christian Thomas averaged a double-double in high school and the latest signee Lowe's press release doesn't say much about scoring at minimum you would expect him to be good facilitator and defender. Also, assuming Knight is back he and a couple of other returners haven't lived up to the expectations yet although Knight in particular showed signs that he could.
  5. Cards fall in ten innings. 2-1 Missed a great opportunity to make up a game on two of the teams ahead of them in standings.
  6. If that is the case, then Lamar should be in a good position for another good year.
  7. Looking at last year's roster with what we know is gone and the two freshmen that I see coming in how many more players do the Cards have left to fill. Gone, Marmolejos transfer portal, Jackson graduation, Hamilton graduation, White graduation, Dawsey graduation. On the roster but didn't play this past year, so totally unknown what their impact may be, Gambrell and Jeffries. What about B. B. Knight, he was injured and even before that he wasn't delivering what he had the year before. Is he coming back? Looks to me like there are one or two more potential spots to fill. Am I missing something?
  8. Cards take game one of the series at Northwestern State 8-2.
  9. Softball takes game one of the double header with HCU 7-1 but drops the second game 11-10. Rubber game of the three-game series is at 3 PM Friday afternoon.
  10. Cards get a blowout win at Sam Houston for their mid-week game. Cards win 18-9 scoring six runs in the second, eleven in the seventh and one in the nineth. Sam scored two in the bottom of the first and then chipped their way back with one run in the third and then got four runs in the fourth to take back the lead. Sam added two runs in the sixth before Lamar blew the game open in the seventh. Cards will return to action Thursday at Northwestern State for the beginning of a three game series.
  11. Cards split the mid-week double header with Tarleton falling 1-0 in the first game and winning 2-0 in the second game. Cards will return to action Thursday, taking on HCU.
  12. On Sunday April 13th, the Cards finish the sweep of Nicholls with 16-5 run rule win. Cards had two big innings scoring five in the second and nine in the fifth. Cards go on the road for the upcoming week of games.
  13. Lamar finishes the sweep of Northwestern State with a 5-3 win on Saturday afternoon. Lamar currently sits in fifth place with a 13-8 conference record. With only two conference series left the Cards will pretty much need to sweep both of them to move up in the standings. Cards take on Tarleton State in a Tuesday double header before a Thursday, Friday three game series with HCU beginning on the 17th for their last conference home series of the year.
  14. Come back Cards win another game in walk off fashion. Cards gave up four runs to Nicholls over the first four innings before scoring one in the bottom of the fourth. Cards get another run in the fifth to close the gap to two runs before giving up two runs in the sixth for Nicholls to get back to a four-run lead. Lamar gets two runs in the eighth and then give them back in the top of the ninth before scoring five runs in the bottom of the ninth to take game two of the series 9-8. The series will close out tomorrow beginning at 1PM with Lamar going for a sweep.
  15. Lamar takes game one in the series against Nicholls 5-4 in ten innings. Game two tomorrow at 5 PM.
  16. Ladies take the first two games of the series 6-2 and 4-1 in the Friday double header. Series will finish beginning at noon tomorrow.
  17. Lamar gets back on the winning track with a 3-1 victory over Arkansas - Pine Bluff. Cards host Nicholls this weekend. Cards currently sit in sixth place with six losses. Lamar really can't afford anymore losses if they hope to be a host team for the tournament pods.
  18. Ladies give up three in the top of the seventh and drop the third game of the series and the series itself.
  19. Ladies win the first game of three with Southeastern La but drop the second game of the double header. SLU and McNeese are tied for first place with 13-4 conference records. The Cards had a chance tying the second game at one run each in the fourth but could not get the go ahead run. SLU got a run in the sixth and held Lamar scoreless in the last two innings.
  20. Still a lot of baseball to play, but a tournament projection with three SLC teams going to the regionals is a big improvement from a few years ago.
  21. Cards drop the second game of the double header this afternoon as UTA score three runs in the top of the seventh to get a 4-2 win and salvage the last game of the series. The Cards will return to action Tuesday, taking on Arkansas Pine Bluff.
  22. Lamar wins game one of the Sunday double header 6-5 with a walk off double against UTA to win their eleventh straight and secure the series win. Game two for today and the series finale will start a little later.
  23. Ladies finish the sweep of the Islanders with a 12-0 win on Saturday.
  24. Baseball keeps their winning streak going with a 3-2 victory over UT-Arlington on Friday evening.
  25. Ladies finish the day with a 3-1 win in the second game to go up 2-0 in the series. Now they can go for the sweep tomorrow.
