  1. Lamar has 278 total yards of offense in the first half with 226 in the air and 52 on the ground. Still a little inconsistent as two big plays make up more than half of the passing yards. Nicholls got 227 yards in the first half and will get the ball first in the second half.
  2. Cards play continues to improve on the day with Lamar getting another 2nd quarter stop against Nicholls offense and then going on a long drive ending with a field goal with 2:28 left in the half.
  3. Lamar goes on an eleven play 80-yard drive ending in a three-yard run by McCowan to tie up the game with 7:22 remaining in the half.
  4. Lamar defense hasn't been able to stop Nicholls in the first quarter and the quarter ends with Nicholls up 14-7.
  5. Nicholls comes back with an elven play 88-yard drive to tie the game with 9:10 left in the first quarter.
  6. McCowan starting at QB for Lamar and Lamar gets the opening possession. McCowan completes an 85-yard pass and catch to Blake Thomas for a one play touchdown to take a very early 7-0 lead. Puddin should like this.
  7. I don't have any insider information, but even though I think I would prefer McCowan, I expect it to be Coleman that starts the game.
  8. It's almost game day and Lamar enters this week with a positive record against quality opponents. While Nicholls is on a four-game losing streak, two of the losses are to FBS squads. Nicholls defeated UIW in their first game of the year so they should still be a tough match. Game time is 3 PM Saturday the 4th.
  9. A win is a win no matter how ugly. Next up Nicholls who have a big conference win over UIW and have played two FBS and two FCS schools for non-conference games that have all been losses. Hard to figure what kind of match up this game will be.
  10. Does anyone know why the clock was stopped between UCA's last third and fourth downs? The receiver was stopped in bounds.
  11. Lamar receives the 2nd half kick off and executes a 1:56 second drive to extend the lead to 28 - 17 on a pass from McCowan to Thomas. Defense needs to make a stop.
  12. Lamar recovers a fumble with 3:42 left in the half and takes the ball down the field for a go ahead touchdown with about a minute left. Lamar 21 - UCA 17
  13. UCA kicks a field goal with 9:40 left in the first half to take a 17-14 lead. The Cards will have to step up and respond. Offense needs to get back to what they did correctly on their first two possession and the defense needs to figure out how to stop the Bears after the change in quarterbacks.
  14. UCA stops Lamar with a three and out on Lamar's third possession and have another scoring drive to bring the score to 14-4 at almost the end of the first quarter.
  15. UCA changes quarterbacks on their third possession and makes a ten-play drive resulting in a touchdown to narrow the gap.
  16. Lamar basically repeats the first possession forcing a quick stop and a quick touchdown for 14-0 lead with 9:52 left in the first quarter.
  17. Early in the game, Lamar defense forces a three and out, get a good punt return and score in three plays for an early 7-0 lead.
  18. I watched the video of Rossomando's press conference today and he indicated that Coleman probably won't be ready to go until the Nicholls game.
  19. Lamar comes off of its bye week to face Central Arkansas. UCA sits at 1-3 with losses to Missouri, Tarleton State and Sacramento State and a win over Arkansas Pine Bluff. This looks like a prove that LU can be a contender game. Both Lamar and UCA have wins over a SWAC opponent and at this point in the season it is still hard to compare the other opponents except by national ranking. It would appear that Lamar has the advantage, but the Cards still need to prove it on the field. Game time is 6 PM this Saturday.
  20. Cards win 31-7. I would say McCown had a decent game and overall managed the game well. His passing wasn't anything special, but it was his first real extended opportunity.
  21. No scoring in the third quarter but Lamar gets a field goal at the 14:45 mark early in the fourth quarter.
  22. Lamar makes another good drive ending with Moore touchdown run with under a minute left in the half to take a 28-7 lead into halftime.
  23. Lamar is up 21-7 with 13:37 left in the first half. The Cards have a fumble recovery on a dropped snap by the TSU punter for a TD and a blocked punt return for a TD as well as an eight-play drive for a McCown TD run.
  24. Does that mean the not feeling good about Saturday continues this week? Texas Southern was at least an expected win with the starters, but now you have in the unknown at quarterback.
  25. Lamar defense holds SD to a turnover on downs at their own 21 to clinch a win. This is a very big win for Lamar.
