  1. So far this morning Lamar has signed eight freshmen for the early signing period. Two offensive linemen, one wide receiver, two defensive linemen and three defensive backs.
  2. I'm not too sure that there is much loyalty anywhere. Seems like the upper tier coaches move on to the next job as soon as they get a chance. With the transfer portal, players are looking for a better opportunity every year, especially if they don't think they were treated right. Personally, I don't think Rossomando has done enough yet to be considered for an extension in year two of a five-year contract.
  3. Is it me or does anyone else feel like Lamar doesn't have a real consistent scoring threat. Holifield looked good for a couple of games, but I noticed he only scored three today. Pennebaker had ten in the first half but only four in the second and several games earlier in the year he barely scored. No body is close to averaging double figures in rebounds.
  4. Ladies fall to Cleveland St 79-52
  5. Men pick back up against Our Lady of the Lake at 6 PM this evening. I guess after five Div 1 losses it's time for another Non-D1 opponent to make everyone feel good. Problem is I don't see a clear win probability after today.
  6. Ladies took down Pacific 69-54 and will wind up this road swing tomorrow with 1:00 PM game.
  7. Ladies have had a while to stew on the last quarter of the SMU game and they return to action in New Orleans for two games with the first game tomorrow versus University of Pacific at 3:30 PM followed by a game versus Cleveland State on Saturday.
  8. As far as an extension is concerned, it depends on when his contract ends. If he has two years left then don't do anything now but be ready to do something next fall as you see next season unfold. You can do the extension during the season if warranted. As far as the play calling and run / pass ratio, no one will really care if you just win. Conference championships and playoffs will eventually bring in the fans.
  9. I was looking at the FCS bracket and I don't think the Southland gets the respect it deserves there are three representatives from the United Athletic Conference two with 8-4 records and one with a 9-3 record.
  10. I think Lamar would have had to win against both SFA and SLU to have a chance to get in. 9-3
  11. Unbelievable, Lamar comes back to score the winning touchdown on an untimed down with a twenty-yard pass from Longino to Fusilier. Fusilier is a stud receiver. Final score Lamar 26 - McNeese 22.
  12. Coleman completes a forty one yard pass to Rhea for a touchdown with 6:10 left in the first half to move ahead 17-0.
  13. Cards defense playing well so far. Griffin is not playing tonight, but Lamar is still running the ball pretty well. Coleman had a fifty-four yard run to set up the first touchdown.
  14. Cards fall to Alabama St 77-75. Lamar was ahead for a good portion of the game but hit about a three-minute scoring drought with about nine minutes left to give up the lead and never were able to regain the lead. Lamar had four more turnovers than ASU and shot a few percentage points poorer to make the difference.
  15. Doesn't really have anything to do with the Lamar game but UIW had a surprisingly hard game against Commerce. UIW was behind going into the fourth quarter but scored three times to get the win.
  16. Cards fall by seven points in their game against Akron. Cards cut the turnovers down to three for the second half and managed to close the gap just a little. It's just my opinion but so far, I don't see the attitude and intensity it takes from these guys on defense. Lamar still doesn't have a three or four position player that can drive to the basket and hit enough mid-range shots to open the lane for others to drive. Tomorrow's game tips off at 7:30 PM against Alabama State, hopefully the Cards have what it takes to get a win.
  17. Ladies fall in overtime 54-56.
  18. Women give up their lead over about the last six minutes of the game, but are able to end the fourth quarter with a 46-46 tie. Heading to overtime.
  19. Third quarter saw the lead drop by two points.
  20. Ladies continue to lead, expanding the lead to eleven points 28-17 at the half.
  21. Cards down by twelve at the half, but if they can control their turnovers and rebound a little more effectively this game is well within reach.
  22. At the under four-minute timeout Cards are down by nine points 24-15. In general the Cards are getting out hustled. Thirteen turnovers and getting out rebounded.
  23. Lamar off to a bad start. Cards have eight turnovers in the first ten minutes and shooting in the mid 30% range.
  24. After the first quarter Lamar is up 16-9. Only three Cards have scored so far, Dean has eight, Davis has six and Taylor has two.
  25. Investment in the baseball program is great. From the press release and the rendering provided it doesn't look like it is a direct part of the stadium. So while I think it is great to give the student athletes improved facilities, I hope it also improves the fan experience for those that attend the games.
