  1. Lamar defeats UL-M 71-60. Good game for the ladies as even though Davis got into foul trouble and the Cards played much of the game without her in the lineup, the ladies still were able to pull out to a stable lead. Galloway, Hill and Minor all got significant playing time and made good contributions.
  2. Women up by five at the half.
  3. Conference game two. UTRGV joins the SLC and brings another competitive program. RGV currently sitting at five and three with a conference win over SFA. Overall, their non-conference schedule looks tougher than Lamar's so this should be a tough game.
  4. Good tough schedule with no patsy games.
  5. Twenty-two non-conference games prior to the first conference game with McNeese and none of them appear to be a sure winner. I agree that this is a tough schedule and the kind that if they can compete it can really prepare them for conference.
  6. Ladies host UL Monroe Saturday December 7th at 2 PM
  7. Cardinals will return to action Saturday afternoon at UTRGV with a 4:30 start time.
  8. Lamar wins 65-61. Lamar had four more turnovers than Corpus but Corpus failed to make a three point shot the entire game and only shot 56.5 % from the free throw line. Also their second half field goal percentage was down in the low 30s.
  9. Hamilton fouls out with 16 seconds left, the Cards up by four and CC shooting free throws.
  10. Cards now up by two points 61-59 with a minute left and the ball in the front court. Lamar has twenty seconds on the shot clock.
  11. Cards cut the lead down early in the half, then Corpus extended it back to eleven before Lamar slowly chipped away until Lamar got the lead with just under five minutes left. Lamar up by three points 60-57 with 4:07 left.
  12. Lamar down by nine at the half, 42-33. Turnovers the number one problem for Lamar, defense number two. Islanders shooting 55% from the field but haven't made a three pointer yet.
  13. Men open the conference season at Corpus Christi tomorrow at 7 PM. Corpus has a 5-3 record but it is hard to compare the schedules. Maybe the tough non-conference schedule will prove to help Lamar.
  14. Final score Lamar 94 - St Thomas 32
  15. Lamar signed fourteen freshman recruits on signing day. Seven on offense and seven on defense. The group includes one quarterback, two wide receivers, two d-line and three o-line.
  16. Lamar blowing out St Thomas as expected.
  17. So far this morning Lamar has signed eight freshmen for the early signing period. Two offensive linemen, one wide receiver, two defensive linemen and three defensive backs.
  18. I'm not too sure that there is much loyalty anywhere. Seems like the upper tier coaches move on to the next job as soon as they get a chance. With the transfer portal, players are looking for a better opportunity every year, especially if they don't think they were treated right. Personally, I don't think Rossomando has done enough yet to be considered for an extension in year two of a five-year contract.
  19. Is it me or does anyone else feel like Lamar doesn't have a real consistent scoring threat. Holifield looked good for a couple of games, but I noticed he only scored three today. Pennebaker had ten in the first half but only four in the second and several games earlier in the year he barely scored. No body is close to averaging double figures in rebounds.
  20. Ladies fall to Cleveland St 79-52
  21. Men pick back up against Our Lady of the Lake at 6 PM this evening. I guess after five Div 1 losses it's time for another Non-D1 opponent to make everyone feel good. Problem is I don't see a clear win probability after today.
  22. Ladies took down Pacific 69-54 and will wind up this road swing tomorrow with 1:00 PM game.
  23. Ladies have had a while to stew on the last quarter of the SMU game and they return to action in New Orleans for two games with the first game tomorrow versus University of Pacific at 3:30 PM followed by a game versus Cleveland State on Saturday.
  24. As far as an extension is concerned, it depends on when his contract ends. If he has two years left then don't do anything now but be ready to do something next fall as you see next season unfold. You can do the extension during the season if warranted. As far as the play calling and run / pass ratio, no one will really care if you just win. Conference championships and playoffs will eventually bring in the fans.
  25. I was looking at the FCS bracket and I don't think the Southland gets the respect it deserves there are three representatives from the United Athletic Conference two with 8-4 records and one with a 9-3 record.
