I know they didn't have many carries but both Harmon and Hannah didn't look bad. I actually expected Hannah to have a bigger role than he did, but he still had the physicality I thought he did. If you look at the stats they don't tell you much, but Hannah had one nice run around the left side where he only gained about 2 yards but he popped the TxSt defender pretty hard before going down. Both Harmon and Hannah were the physicality we've been missing since DPG was hurt. I would like to see more of Harmon but especially Hannah against UCA. Harmon's TD was a good run because he made contact with defenders and was able to shed that contact to continue on in to the en…

The CFPA selected Brown as an Honorable Mention Running Back of the Week, the third recognition he has received from them, and BSCN named him one of its six Offensive Players of the Week. It is the first time a Bulldog player has been recognized by the BSCN. He was joined on the offensive team by Derek Carr (UT Martin), Colton Chapple (Harvard), Kenny James (San Diego), Ryan Spandola (Lehigh) and JJ Hayes (Lamar). Win or loose you ar always a winner in my eyes, son! Never fail to amaze me!

I have several people coming in from the Beaumont area for the Texas State game on October 15th. We plan to have a Lamar Tailgate for several hours before the game. I'm hoping for a really good Central Texas Alumni turnout, as around 250 people attended the LU Austin Alumni Assc meeting a couple of months ago at The Oasis. Hope to meet some of you there. Gonna be a great party!

http://www.beaumontenterprise.com/sports/lamar/article/Lamar-seeks-to-eliminate-slow-starts-2221426.php Interesting part of the article: That's coaching' Texas State coach Dennis Franchione said he wanted only to give backups playing time when they scored a touchdown as time expired and did not intend run up a score. A visibly bothered Woodard kept answers short when asked about the touchdown. "Different people do different things," Woodard said. When asked if he said anything about it to Franchione, Woodard said, "I don't ever do that. That's coaching. That's choices." I have a few questions for our resident Band Director. Is the marching band going to travel to any away games this year? Including this one? What should we expect for homecoming? Finally, I want to say that I thought last weekends performance was possibly the best I've seen to date. I really liked the second song, it had alot of power and bravado. The only other performance that might rival this one is the performance at the end of last year, it was the only other time you played to the student section and the directors of the band did a neat little dance. I thought it was cool. Keep up the good work, I'm very impressed with our band, I think it's headed pla…

How can Woodard get better first-half performances? “That’s something we’ve got to meet about,” Woodard said of his coaching staff. “Two weeks in a row I don’t think we’ve given our team a chance to win ballgames in the first half. We played hard, so hard, in the second half of games. We’ve at least played with teams in the second half.” http://blog.beaumontenterprise.com/inthecards/2011/10/15/woodard-takes-blame-for-loss-at-texas-state/

A few notes from Ray Woodard’s weekly press conference today: – DePauldrick Garrett (separated shoulder) and Octavious Logan (dislocated elbow) have not practiced this week, leaving Mike Venson as the lone running back with extensive experience this season. Redshirt freshman Caleb Harmon (Port Neches-Groves) and sophomore Jacob Hanna (Lumberton) are taking snaps with the first-team offense. – Don’t look for Jeremy Johnson to get carries. Although Todd Whitten said the idea of the athletic Johnson moving to running back to help alleviate injury problems at that position is a good one, he thinks staying at quarterback is best for Johnson’s long-term development. – …

http://www.beaumontenterprise.com/sports/lamar/article/Dabe-Lamar-should-let-RB-Garrett-sit-heal-2215942.php DPG, the spark to the Cards running game is in a difficult position right now. does he sit for the remainder of the season and seek a medical redshirt hardship or does he play to help a struggling LU backfield? This is a what do you think type poll. Obviously DPG will do what he feels is best for him. POLL at top.

The injury bug has hit the RB position pretty hard as Logan dislocated his elbow and it could be a season ending injury. JJ Hayes looks good and he should be able to practice Wednesday. The Cardinals are staying in Austin Friday night and will have their Friday walk through in the bubble on the campus of the University of Texas. I didn't hear the name of the hotel they are staying in but I know the guys will be excited about practicing on the UT campus.
