Coach Woodard has talked to a former teammate at Texas and in the NFL. Guess what positions he has coached in the past? WR's and DB's! I'll leave out the name of the individual as there was no mention of a job offer being made and I don't want to upset anyone at Lamar. Best to let them announce any new hires. B)

Coach Woodard doesn't give full details about injuries so we may not know until gameday if Asim is a go or not. I saw on KFDM tonight that the athletic complex has been named after an LU donor that donated an undisclosed amount to the capital campaign.( I can't remember the name of the donor)

Here's the remaining schedule and the predicted score according to the Massey Ratings: 41-27 UCA over LU (home) 44-10 SHSU over LU (away) 38-27 SFA over LU (home) 32-26 Nicholls over LU (away) 31-17 McNeese over LU (home) I think the SFA and Nicholls State games are very winnable. I also think Lamar can pull an upset win over UCA since it's the homecoming game and UCA does seem to give up a lot of points. I think a 6-5 record is attainable, but a 5-6 record more likely, while anything worse would be disappointing.

Ray Woodard said the second half Saturday was “probably the most enjoyable experience coaching here that I’ve had because our team really responded.” You can’t blame him for feeling that way. Too bad the first half of the 46-21 loss at Texas State wasn’t better. That’s what Woodard said Tuesday during the Southland Conference coaches teleconference. Here’s some of what Central Arkansas coach Clint Conque said about Lamar in advance of Saturday’s 3 p.m. game at Provost Umphrey Stadium. UCA is 4-3 overall and 3-1 in the Southland. Lamar is 3-3 and 1-1. Worth noting is that Conque coached in Lamar’s last game before the school dropped football in 1989, when Conque was a McNeese State assistant.
