Y'all may have already received your renewal notifications. We received ours in the mail this weekend. We're sending the form back today. That means there will be at least two in the stadium for the home games. :) As far as the away games, I'd like to make the run to Lafayette to see some Cardinal / Ragin Cajun football and check out the area we moved away from 20 years ago . We saw the last Cardinal / Ragin Cajun football game. There are some other away games that we'd like to try to attend. Looking forward to a great season!!

An advantage of going FBS.....they get a home game this year with Texas Tech. Quite the step up from Langston College & Co I'd say. http://espn.go.com/college-football/team/schedule/_/id/326/texas-state-bobcats

BEAUMONT - Lamar University has filled out its football coaching staff with the additions of Carey Bailey and Kevin Barbay, announced head coach Ray Woodard on Wednesday. Barbay, a former quarterback at Nederland High School, returns to the area to coach wide receivers for Lamar. Barbay played for Larry Neumann at Nederland before going on to play for Doug Williams at Grambling State University. Barbay's first full-time coaching job came at Texas A&M-Commerce (2007-08) where he spent two seasons as the quarterbacks/wide receivers coach before moving on to North Texas as the tight ends coach for a season (2009). He most recently spent two seasons as the athletic …

Can Nelson three-peat? Speaking of postseason awards, there’s going to be a fascinating subplot taking place in District 20-4A now that the regular season has ended. Will senior Jayce Nelson be named to the district’s first team or superlatives? The reason that would be significant is that Nelson was also honored thusly in both baseball and basketball this season, meaning he would make a clean sweep of all three sports on the first team or higher. I’ve asked multiple people over the last few weeks to see if they can remember the last boys athlete from this area who might have accomplished the feat, but no one could come up with any names. In this day and age of A…

Out with the old and in with the new..... With the donated time of one of our members we've installed new forum software for the site. We tried to keep the look the same but the controls will be a little different but shouldnt be that hard to get used to. All the forum history has been saved and converted over so noone is losing their post count. :) With the new software comes better administrator features and a much better private message feature. We aren't expecting any bugs while testing it but if there are let me know and we'll get them fixed ASAP. this current forum will not be on the main menu anymore but I will keep it intact offline just in case we have …

The WAC is in deep trouble. UTSA is leaving for CUSA before ever playing a game, leaving the WAC with only four football schools. http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/7866383/utsa-roadrunners-poised-exit-wac-conference-usa Not sure what's going to happen with Texas State (and, for that matter, UTA) at this point. There could be a serious game of musical chairs about to start, especially for those who thought they were going to make the move to FBS...

Lamar football plans to have a No. 1 quarterback named before practices begin again in August, coach Ray Woodard said. This would be a change from last season, when multiple quarterbacks contended for the starting job before coaches finally settled on Andre Bevil, a senior last year. But Bevil is gone, and none of the three quarterbacks Lamar used during spring practices has started a game for Lamar. That could make naming a projected starter before practices begin in August all the more important when preparing for the Sept. 1 opener at Louisiana-Lafayette. "I think that's what we'll do this year," Woodard said of picking a No. 1 quarterback among junior coll…
