I know we're still in the middle of March Madness and my mind should be on other things, but with Spring Football starting this week, I was wondering when season tickets would be offered. I haven't seen anything for Lamar, but I spot checked several programs and found that they have already started selling tickets for the upcoming season (Texas A&M, Sam Houston, Texas State-San Marcos) ... didn't see anything for McNeese. Anyone know when the Lamar renewal options will be sent out, or did I miss ours? Just thinking that this might be a good time for the University to offer season tickets on the chance that some folks are getting a large income tax refund that …

  6. Not that Lamar Ray Woodard needs to be told what a good move he was able to pull off by bringing in Bill Bradley as his defensive coordinator, but he got a double thumbs up from Houston Texans’ defensive coordinator Wade Phillips. “I was really pleased to hear that,” said Wade, who as head coach of the Buffalo Bills brought in Bradley from the CFL to be his secondary coach. “Any time you get a guy with that kind of experience, it’s a positive for your program. Bill is everything you want in a coach, starting with the fact he’s very good with players. They will love him. He’ll also be good with the fans. The guy is a Texas legend, not just a UT legend, but a Texas legend. …

I attended the press conference announcing the new coaches this week but have been so busy at work I havent been able to post much. I had a couple thoughts from the presser: - Woodard seemed happy about being able to finally name his new coaches. The guys were names we had been talking about here and on other publications for weeks so I'm sure he was glad to get to introduce them. -Kueck and Bradley were both SUPER nice guys. Very down to earth and willing to answer any question. (ill provide what I asked them later) -McKnight and Langston didnt stick around long. Mcknight looked like he wanted nothing to do with this press conference and was almost out of th…

I have to admit that I did a terrible job last year of keeping that information updated but today I turned a new leaf. I've updated the football section which includes this years schedule, the 2013 recruiting board and an updated team roster. I plan on adding depth chart and statistics tabs when the season starts. Basketball and baseball will be next. I'm off the next few days so expect the updates.

Had it on coaches thread but thought it deserved it's own topic. Jacody was granted the 6th season but is deciding whether or not to take it. Has a job offer and weighing whether to play ball or get job. He's already graduated.

Kickoffs from the 35-yard line. On touchbacks, the ball will placed at the 25-yard line. Also, if a player loses his helmet, it will be treated like an injury. The player must leave the game and sit out the next play. http://www.ncaa.com/news/ncaa/article/2012-02-09/committee-proposes-new-rules

  18. in todays edition: "The 8-minute, 48-second video of a press conference in which Lamar coach Pat Knight harshly criticized his seniors gained national attention Friday. The Lamar video department received calls from the New York Times, Wall Street Journal and USA Today. All the publicity hasn't been bad. Lamar assistant coach Clif Carroll said he received about 40 questionnaires filled out by high school players on the Lamar website, which is far more than usual. Knight said he received text messages from about 40 coaches. "All thanking me," he said. I think coachacola already mentioned part of this but it's still worth mentioning again: There were three Class 4A All-State running backs this year in the state Texas. Jonathan Gray from Aledo who signed with UT, then Cam Washington from Corsicana and Darrell Harris from Waco who BOTH signed with Lamar. Darrell Harris had similar stats as Gray and generated interest from Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Oregon and North Texas. If he had an offer from North Texas that would mean Harris along with Michael Handy from Conroe Oak Ridge both chose Lamar over UNT. UNT had a soft verbal from Handy before he signed with Lamar on National Signing Day. If they all mak…

Lamar is continuing to petition the NCAA to give linebacker Jacody Coleman a sixth year of eligibility, interim athletic director Jason Henderson said Wednesday. College athletes typically have five years to complete four seasons. But the NCAA has an exception if an athlete misses two seasons because of injury or other extenuating circumstances. Coleman missed most of last season after he suffered a dislocated ankle in the team's fourth game, Oct. 1 at Southeastern Louisiana. it looks like he's doing a heck of a job recruiting running backs this offseason i think its obviouos hes a great recruiter. my question is if we bring in a new offensive coordinator like rumored earlier today is there a chance he could coach the qb's? ive noticed at games in the past that he works with them before games sometimes and he was an excellent high school and college qb. wouldnt it benefit the team for him to be a qb coach? especially if the rumored new offensive coordinator isnt a qb specialist? i thnk james would do good with the guys we have on campus at qb.
