Here are my top 5 returning Southland conference running backs: 5. Fred Ford SFA- I know he was down on their depth chart but I think he'll prove himself and gain more touches for SFA this year. He had a decent season for a freshman last year. 4. Terence Bobo Central Arkansas- versatile kid that played well vs us last year in Beaumont. 3. Depauldrick Garrett Lamar- Played very well until he hurt his shoulder and we'll need him to carry the load even more this year if the offense struggles. he looked good in the Spring Game. 2. What is your opinion on this subject? Does resentment toward the program still exist due to Lamar ditching Football so many years ago? Excitement was everywhere when Lamar started back up and it was a packed house but it certainly has dwindled. Is it because of a team who hasn't learned to win yet? Or do fans still hold a grudge for abandoning them? I'd have to admit, I was pretty bitter toward Lamar U for ditching Football. Regardless of why they did it.

I am aware of this issue and we are working on getting it resolved. Currently having new forum software tested and when complete will install it on the site. WHO'S GOING?

I'm going to Practice today and will provide any worthy updates on the twitter feed. If there's anything you guys/gals want me to try and watch for post them here and Ill do my best. It should be interesting to watch for any improvements or changes since I havent been able to attend since the first weeks practices.

The draft will start today at 1:00 in the field house and will be broadcast live at lamarcardinals.com. Ill provide the link here when it becomes available. A couple details about the draft are: - graduate assistants Marcus Carver and Brett Ramsey will be the two head coaches picking the teams - 2 honorary coaches will be Dan Hooks and Charlie Woodard - They will only show the first 12 rounds or so and the rest of the two teams will be picked behind closed doors. - Last year Kyle Gilliam was the 1st overall selection. Stay here during the draft to discuss the picks as they come in!!

Three Division I football programs have recently offered scholarships to former Central standout Kewan Alfred. Alfred, a freshman at Trinity Valley Community College in Athens, has offers from Lamar, Mississippi and UNLV. But the 6-foot-3, 250-pound linebacker plans to wait a few weeks before making a decision. Alfred, who recorded more than 60 tackles last fall at Trinity Valley, could opt to play one more season at the junior college level. He's also waiting to see if other schools offer. i just had to mention this idea for future alternate away game uniforms. Was suggesting solid black pants, white tops (red numbers and lettering), flat black helmets with the new LU logos, and black cleats. Could anyone out there agree?

Spring Practice Schedule: 4 p.m. Tuesdays 7 p.m. Wednesdays 4 p.m. Fridays 10 a.m. Saturdays April 17th Lamar will hold the 2nd Annual Crawfish Bowl. All practices are held in Provost Umphrey Stadium.
