Men are down by 22 at the half. After this game they'll be 8-7 in conference but they should be able to finish the season at least 9-9 in conference play. Quite the accomplishment after the last two disastrous years.

Baseball opens the season Friday night at 6:00 vs. New Mexico State. There is a game between NMSU and Illinois at 2:00 on Friday afternoon. In the past I have gone to the early game and then stayed for the Lamar game and there have been no ticket or gate people. In other words, go early to the first game and you get in free! There are three games on Saturday. Illinois vs, NMSU at 10:00, Lamar vs. Illinois 2:00, and Lamar Vs. NMSU 6:00. They wrap it up on Sunday with Lamar playing Illinois at 11:00 AM. Lady's softball fell in the first game of today's double header by a score of 4-3 to FIU. FIU is picked to finish first in the CUSA and kicked Houston's butt in their opener yesterday. In the night cap Lamar defeated Jackson State 9-2. JSU lost their first game to EKU 1-0 and EKU is picked to finish first in their conference, which coincidentally is Coach Bruder's old conference the OVC. In other words, Lamar played two very good teams today and came away looking pretty impressive. One place that needs improvement was the four errors commited by the Lady Cards.
