My name is Paul Donaldson and I'm a special correspondent for StadiumJourney.com, a website devoted to all things sports stadiums. This fall, I'm scheduled to do approximately a dozen reviews for different college football stadiums. Included in that number will be one stop at each SLC stadium. Here's my SLC schedule: 9/22: SHSU @ UCA 9/29: SLU @ Lamar 10/13: SFA @ McNeese 10/20: McNeese @ SHSU 10/27: UCA @ SLU 11/3: Lamar @ SFA 11/10: SHSU @ Northwestern St. 11/15: SLU @ Nicholls Along with the stadium review, I also try to do a "travel guide" of sorts that visiting fans can utilize to get tips on where to eat, where to stay, and what to do in and around the …

  3. I wonder if there are any of the Cardinal staff attending these games? There are some good talent that are playing in these games. I think there some players from Samoa which would add some speed offensively and defensively. Austria and Japan have some good linemen too. Team USA plays Austria tonight at 8 here in Austin. If they win they play in the gold medal game Saturday at 8:00. The games continue Friday evening.

So, as the name suggests, I'm an Oklahoma State fan, and given that it seems we're sending a bunch of players y'alls way, I thought I'd try and find out a little more about you. Glanced over your roster and saw a few guys that had been FBS before transferring down... Mostly just wanted a rundown of the team, I guess. Like, what kind of offense/defense you run, any fun facts, general insights, etc. Thanks!

For some reason the topic got deleted. As first posted by Red Ryder, their is a rumor that Nelson has been approached by Gilligan about playing for the baseball team as well. We could definitely use the help.

I thought I would post some photos of former players celebrating Lamar's return to Football in 2010. The one with the big grin and waving in the cart is Bob Kinnear, 99, is Lamar's oldest living football player. I am happy to say that I have been informed that he is still with us. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1396136671028.2055569.1460572513&type=3&l=4cde2e10b4

I believe everyone here knows I love Lamar University, athletics and everything about the school. I believe coaches are paid to do just that but what I learned today was very disappointing. Lamar football coaches cut an athlete I've followed the past 4 years. I'm not giving out the kids name but he was told to come out and attempt to make the team as a DB. However, once on campus they tried to make him a WR and gave him the spring to learn and excel in a position he has never played in his life. This kid was All-District 3 years and named to the Beaumont Enterprise Super Team twice. He played the game with heart and passion. I believe they have made a big mistake letting …

I called Coach Woodard today to get a quote about BJ Oyefeso and he informed me that QB Dillon Barrett had also signed with the Cards. I did get quotes from Coach about both players: First on QB Dillon Barrett: "Dillon is a big and is very athletic and has 4-years eligibility remaining. I'm very excited to get him on campus and watch his progression over the next 4 years." On WR BJ Oyefeso: "A fast wideout that has good size and is very physical. He also helps fill an obvious position of need for us."

I received some info that Fort Scott JUCO QB Dillon Barrett could be signing with Lamar early next week. He's a 6-5 225lb redshirt freshman that runs a 4.5 40. I found some highlight videos, his rivals profile and a pic of him at the Manning football camp. I did call and ask a source in the LU athletic dept and received no comment. Alright, since the release of the depth chart at the end of the spring season there have been quite a few additions to this team. I think all told Lamar might have something like 25 new scholarship players so this will be a team that will look drastically different from what it looked like even in spring training. Here is a list of signees from February: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_Lamar_Cardinals_football_team#Before_the_season (note exclude brock wempa he was signed later than february) We've also signed: OL Brock Wempa 6-2 310 lbs Jr. TE Cory Soto 6-8 255 Jr. QB Dillon Barrett 6-5 Fr. WR Kevin Johnson 6-1 So DE Joseph Okafor 290 So. WR B.J…

Matt Bergeron will arrive on campus next week. I was told by a close family member that after a hard off-season of workouts with a D1 training facility and numerous phone contact with current LU QB's Ryan Mossakowski and Caleb Berry that he's packing up and heading to Beaumont next week. He'll be rooming with Mossakowski in July classes begin. Good luck Matt and we look forward to covering you for the next 4-5 years.

  24. IMO i think the university should invest in a cannon for the home football games. 8lb, 12 lb, whatever, no problem. Something medium sized would be ideal. If youve never been to a UT, aTm, or Tech game, this will be something new and exciting. Anytime, during a home game, the team scores a TD(including PAT), kicks a succesful FG, Kickoff, or any BIG defensive play, the cannon will be fired off. Off course its only shooting blanks (no cannonball) but it also leaves a cloud of grey smoke. If this idea were to be made into a reality, LU games at home would be even more fun.
