Men play Texas State tonight at 7:30. Lamar is listed as a 12.5-point underdog. Texas State doesn't appear to have a significant height advantage but does appear to have more juniors and seniors. Could be a good test if the men learned anything over the past two weeks. For me one of the keys this year is does the team get better through the year.

I don't know how much the AD had in the decision, and it's hard always to fire a person, but I thanked the AD for making a tough decision. Something had to be done.

Was at a gathering last evening( Thursday) with 4 friends. All 4 have degrees from LU( 5 including myself), and all four are convinced nothing will happen to Coach Morgan after the McNeese game, win or lose. They all believe that the " power brokers" either in Beaumont or with the TSUS could care less about Lamar athletics. Two of the four are convinced football is doomed and will be gone within 5 years. One of the four thinks LU should play Division III ball, if we even keep football. Two of the four had season tickets, but gave them up before COVID. One is convinced that Morgan is a salesman, thus he being hired. It make you wonder how prevalent this feeling…

I listen to the show last night. During the show Coach Morgan stated the Cardinals would sign 10-15 Juco players in the December signing period. I am all for giving Coach Morgan another year with the news he is altering his philosophy. I hate anyone losing their job. However LU has to beat McNeese Saturday. If they lose the Cardinals would end the season 1-10. There is no way the alumni, students and community would support the program with that record when you take into account the records in 2020 and 2021 iIMHO.

This game should be a loss as NMSU is still a FBS school and has the extra depth that a FCS school can never get because of the scholarship rules. If Lamar can compete it will be a positive, but as the bulk of the sentiment right now is that Morgan should be replaced the last thing the fan base needs is a good performance from Lamar. Nest weeks game at McNeese could possibly be a good game. Game time today is as 1 PM.

Here is the answer from the letter I wrote to the AD....Boilerplate. I haven't much hope. " Thank you for your input and for being a loyal Lamar fan. I understand your frustrations but I can assure you that we are all working to make Lamar Athletics a great program. Go Cards!"

NCAA tourney game in Baton Rouge at 5:30 PM. Given it looks like four 16 team brackets, Lamar would be in about the middle of the field by seeding. This match will give an idea of how far the program still has to go.

Lamar takes on TCU at 7PM in Ft Worth. Should be plenty of film to teach from after tonight. A three or four guard offense can work, but the guards need to be taller than what Lamar has if you expect to win against better opponents. Good opponents will take away the hot shooter and normally size wins the rebounding battle.

Lamar is 2 back and don't own the tiebreaker to get into the top 8 for the conference tourney. (I assume Commerce will still be invited although not eligible) Terrible!

Today against SLU, then NMSU, and then McNeese. Should be a big loss today. NMSU is a really bad FBS team but they should easily beat a really really bad FCS team. McNeese is really bad so LU has a chance to beat them before Morgan gets canned.

With only stats to judge by, it doesn't appear Lamar has learned how to play defense yet.

I am tired of being embarrassed. I wrote the AD. Something has to be done about the football program.....Are they trying to "kill it" again? ( BTW- I doubt it does any good, but it made me feel better.)

The WBB team was picked fourth and the MBB team was picked ninth. Akasha Davis was the only Lamar player to be named to one of the Preseason All-Conference teams. She was named 2nd Team.

When do pre-season practices start? I was looking at the WAC message board and while they have some of their own terminology there was a mention of fall camp. Trying to figure out if it is more strength and conditioning or pick up ball among the players as opposed to coach led actual practices. With another disappointing football season, I am hoping for improvement in basketball, both men and women.
