Lamar announced just before noon today (7/11/2022) that they are going back to the SLC as full member for 2022-2023. It will be interesting to see what type of football schedule they can come up with in July. At least two Cardinal transfers, Trevin Michael (Oklahoma) and Marcus Olivares (Texas), pitched in this year's MCWS. Michael is the closer for Oklahoma so there is a chance that he may throw the last pitch in Omaha. The transfer portal gives players opportunities they wouldn't otherwise have but it is already hurting schools like Lamar. The rich get richer.......

Tourney is underway with UTRGV and Sac State playing. Cards are scheduled for a 6 PM BMT start, but this may be delayed depending on how the two earlier games go.

Cards have a big task this coming weekend as to have a chance to win the division the Cards will have to sweep Tarleton and hope for ACU to take two of the three from Sam in Huntsville. Getting a sweep against Tarleton is more than doable, but ACU taking two of three from Sam is a stretch. Sam swept ACU in their previous series this year and this time it is at home. Game one is Thursday at 6:00 PM

Cards get a win in their final mid-week game before finishing the conference season at ACU and at home versus Tarleton over the next two weekend. To have a chance at winning the division Lamar will probably need a sweep in both series. Right now Lamar is three games back of Sam and tied with UTRGV. Sam is at RGV this weekend and then finishes up against ACU.

Why no announcement that we need a volleyball coach! Jordan Lay was named assistant at Mississippi State on May 6!

Dane Jentsch and jaylon jackson. The skinny receiver from same school as jentsch is gone. Sometime if im bored, im gonna figure out how many of morgans recruits have left. Its gotta be around 50 percent. gives him another year to claim we are young.

Lady cards won 2 today. Beat aggy-cc and U of H. Watched the 2nd game. Helluva game vs cooger hi. they are playing decent ball. They are 4-8 vs a pretty hard schedule and have dropped several 1 run games. Only blowout was vs number 5 Washington. Need to wake up the bats but they are looking a helluva alot better than last year.

Cards enter this weekend series one game in back of Sam for the division lead and one game ahead of UTRGV. This is a critical series as RGV is the only series that the Cards lost in the first round of play. A sweep this weekend would put Lamar in control of at least a second-place finish in the division with two series left after this one. Opening pitch is set for 6 PM this evening.

Am I reading this correctly? With an 8-team softball tourney, we're assured a spot in the tourney as there are only 8 eligible teams?

Lamar welcomes UH to Vincent Beck this evening beginning at 6 PM.

Cardinals open the second half of division play at home against SFA, whom the Cards swept the first time around, tonight at Vincent Beck with a 6 PM start time. Lamar is sitting in second place in the division, one game back of Sam Houston and two games ahead of the third-place teams.

Wednesday evening versus HBU and in the middle of the second the game is still scoreless although HBU had a threat in the top of the second.

This class looks pretty good on paper. Overall, I like the size and potential scoring ability. Will be interesting to see how their skills transfer to the D1 level. Will also be interesting to see if this group makes Brooks look like a much better coach than last season's play seemed to show. Game one from Norman, Ok versus Pacific, Cards are up 6-2 in the bottom of the seventh giving up a run in the third before scoring four in the sixth and two in the seventh. Cards have given up a leadoff homerun in the bottom of the seventh.

Women's tennis 8/9 eligible women's tennis teams qualify for the WAC conference tourney to be held in BMT April 21-23. One guess which lone team didn't qualify for the tourney in their own hometown?!
