I am really excited about the football season next year. Woodard has been doing a wonderful job. We are getting much better every year. And our attendance gets better and better. I fully expect us to compete for a conference championship next year!! GO BIG RED!!!

Reached out to some folks today and this is what I've got: -I think it's pretty obvious that the SBC and LU have spoken. I'd say that if LU was financially ready to make such a move and their sports teams were winning in the SLC on a more consistent basis it would almost be a certainty that they'd be invited and accept the invitation to the SBC. I believe Ray is a good man, salesman, and has the back of some Silsbee money! All of this does not make him d1 coaching material. I really believe most of the team likes him, as I know the other slc coaches do, but he does not have the thing that makes a head coach. He probably would make a great asst coach. We cannot win with lineman from lumberton, silsbee, hj, etc. Most of these guys are 6 2 and weigh 230-245 lbs. They have height and no size. Wish he had the thing but my instinct tells me no. Now this is just my true opinion and I am sure most will disagree but I will stick with my thoughts and after next year I am proven wrong I will apologize and give him his dues!…

ill be optimist and say over. with the transfers coming into the fold, the returning experience and the new coaching staff ill say were gonna surprise some teams this year. 5 seems like a generous o/u number maybe i should have gone 6.

I love the Lamar school song...i hope next year it will be played at the beginning of the football games...its a beautiful song...i graduated from Lamar in May and i heard quite a few students during the ceremony say they didnt know we had a school song... :(

How do you think attendance will be for a 3 o'clock versus SHSU. I think we will have at least 14K since we are playing SHSU. Even though the game is midday.

I have not been a fan of taking transfer players who have a problematic background. (this is not including marginal FBS players who are just tired of riding the pine, these guys can help an FCS program) Many of you have expressed the view that it cannot hurt to try and rehab these "star." I just wanted to point out one potential problem with this view that involves APR. When a players transfers to another University and he is passing, it does not count against APR (One reason that FBS schools are glad to unload these guys) When A player drops out in the middle of a semester or flunks out, it has a negative impact on APR, which can cost scholarships in the long r…
