So at yesterdays practice I noticed that BJ Oyefeso was practicing again after recovering from a Hamstring problem. Alex Ball started kicking again (BOOMING them that is) after recovering after some leg problem. I actually saw him kick a 60-yarder before practice started. Kevin Johnson was out because a sore leg that he got during the first practice in the morning. Payden McVey is still out with a hurt hamstring. I noticed a new TE working with them yesterday. He was huge but only worked on blocking. He didn't do any 7on7. We all unfortunetaly about Beard.

    - On the QB's: Mossakowski started and was shut out early while Caleb Berry led the second team offensive on a couple decent drives. They swapped units and Mossakowski got into more a rhythm as the practice continued. I thought they both had decent nights but nothing spectacular. The new offense is very complex so the practices this week with no school will give them both time to get themselves ready to play vs UL-L. At this point I don't think I'm reaching by still thinking Mossakowski is the starter. - On the RB's: DePauldrick Garrett started but Herschel Sims kick started the offense with a 46 yard TD run on 4th and 1 the first time he ran the football. He had a pr…

Beard was injured during practice last night when his knee was twisted and injured. I was told the injury looked to be serious and a MRI has been scheduled. This is obviously a bad break for the defense and to Anthony who's worked hard to get back from previous injuries and has looked solid at practices.

    - Jacory Augustine did not qualify and will have to sit out this season. - Ian Kelsos injured knee isn't serious enough to keep him out of action. He suited out last night and will attempt to play as long as he can stand the pain. - Anthony Beard isn't as lucky. His knee injury will require surgery and he is out for the season. This is the same knee that's been injured multiple times. A bad break for Anthony and the Cardinals defense. - Beards injuy will cause a shuffle within the LB corps moving Jermaine Longino from the outside to inside and his outside spot should be filled by Jestin White. White did deliver a big hit to DePauldrick Garrett last night durin…

  21. What concern does this have for Lamar? The Panthers are currently scheduled to play the Cardinals in Beaumont in 2013. If this game stays on the schedule LU will be the only FCS school in the country to host a FBS team at their stadium. Current rules dont allow FCS teams to host FBS teams but this game will be allowed since GSU was FCS when it was scheduled. Hopefully whoever the new coach is will honor the contract. - This was what I considered the best practice I attended thus far. Plays were made on offense and defense, neither unit dominated each other during the simulation portion of practice with both making their fair share of plays. - Attention to detail. This coaching staff brings that aspect to each and every portion of practice. I saw the staff jump all over guys on positive plays because they did something slightly wrong, they want it perfect every play. This is going to pay off during the season, especially on special teams. - Ryan Mossakowski had a very good night last night. His passes were tight, he put some good zip on the ball, he makes quick decisions and di…
