  6. Started by Maniton,

I'm pumped after our first win! After my only exposure being what I've read online and seen in uploaded videos, I was impressed with the team tonight. After hearing about the mishaps last game I thought this would be a nail-biter and last second victory or a loss. It's hard sometimes to compare teams but I have to put PV in the domain of teams like Langston. They just weren't on the same level as Lamar, so I take our win with a grain of salt. The QB looked great. He played smart - threw the ball away instead of chunking it up for an INT (like Bevil), kept plays alive with a scramble, stayed inbounds when he needed to keep the clock running, etc. He was very accu…

  7. Ray Woodard’s nine wins (9-14) are tied for the second-best two year start in Lamar history for a head coach. Vernon Glass, Lamar’s all-time winningest coach with 63 wins, led the Cards to 11 wins over his first two years. Woodard is tied with Larry Kennan who went 9-11-2 over his first two years. ^^^This is from the game notes vs. Prairie View A&M. It's nice to keep in mind that he is second in this stat, but also that he has accomplished that in two years as a start-up after 21 years of no team. I know the competition hasn't been overly impressive, but it's still something we can take from his tenure here so far.

  9. From the Lamar Athletics Facebook page: Less than 2,000 tickets remain for tomorrow's 7 p.m. #LUFootball game against Prairie View A&M. Over 4,000 student tickets have already been distributed to watch the 2012 home opener at Provost Umphrey Stadium.

  11. Started by coachacola,

Prairie View lost their opener to Texas Southern 44-41 in front of 22K at Reliant Stadium. Both teams had at least 500 total yards but I doubt these teams are considered offensive powerhouses. Lamar should be able to muster enough offense to beat Prairie View if they don't make silly mistakes. I consider this a must win game. Losing this game (or even struggling to win) would mean they are in a very long season, probably winning 3 games at the most. A big win would put them at 1-1, which is what everyone was expecting. If they struggle to win then I'll be very nervous about conference play.

  12. 1. Some have asked if the Panther band would be at Provost Umphrey Saturday and the answer is yes they will be in attendance. 2. Heard that there are approx 200 chairback seats still available for Saturdays home opener. 3. The team came away from the ULL game pretty healthy. I asked specifically about Adren Dorsey who looked banged up during the game and I was told that "they're pretty good" on the injury front. 4. Finally- The player hit on his bicycle today was Marshall Fairchild and they seem to think he's fine but he did go to the hospital for a checkup. That's a situation that couldve been a lot worse. That's what I got so far today...

    1. The team got off to a bad start and wasn't able to recover. It was similar to some of the blowout losses last season in the fact that everything that could've went wrong did which put the team way behind the 8-ball, the difference was I didn't see this team quit. They fought hard the entire game but were just outmatched and couldn't overcome the early mistakes. I'd expect a lot of fight and a much better game at home this week vs Prarie View A&M. 2. The offensive line is obviously a work in progress and getting thrown in there versus a decent FBS school on the road only exaggerated the problem. Ian Kelso had a rough day starting at center with numerous bad snap…

The fact of the matter we got beat by a bigger, stronger, faster team. ULL will go to Florida this year and will get the same ass whooping. We stepped out of our league and got a nice check. I can't bash our o-line..hell they were undersized by 30 to 50 lbs. Our QB play was hard to gauge for the fact we had no time to do anything. Our running backs did show promise on some nice cuts and runs. Defense was not that bad considering they were also giving up size and speed. ULL's program has been around a long time and has finally gotten to the level to get those big fast recruits. They are getting everything second in Louisiana behind LSU. They are also in the area of so…

  20. Christopher Dabe ‏@cmdabe Woodard presser just ended. Said Mossakowski, Berry will likely share snaps until SLC play opens. Said QBs held ball too long. Christopher Dabe ‏@cmdabe Also said he plans to keep Kelso at C & Gillam at RG. Played well, he said, despite a couple bad snaps. That can be fixed, he said Christopher Dabe ‏@cmdabe No names on jersey idea stemmed from not having anybody on all-SLC teams. Christopher Dabe ‏@cmdabe In-game experience will be critical if either gets hurt. Both need experience in new O. RT @MikeSanchez2 Don't agree w/ rotating QB thing.
