Lamar takes on Sam Houston tonight in the Montange at 7 PM. I assume the game is still on. Hopefully most of the players missing the last few games are back. Cards had a shot at Sam over there a couple of weeks ago, can Lamar pull one out and begin a winning streak?

Looks like UTA is joining the WAC. I like it since they're an old conference rival and they're always pretty good in basketball and baseball. They're new basketball arena is pretty nice. LU needs to get their act together because even with NMSU leaving, the WAC is a legit mid-level basketball conference.

Look at these tough requirements to attend LU: Students in the upper 50% of their graduating class are guaranteed admission to LU. Embarrasing! https://www.lamar.edu/admissions/how-to-apply/freshmen/index.html

"We are hearing SFA, Tarleton and Lamar are headed back to the Southland, now that NMSU and Sam are headed to CUSA. WAC football might be dead before it even starts back up." This was posted on the SBC Forum by a normally reliable source. I know him personally and he would not post it without hearing it from a creditable source. It may not be true, but I suspect there is at least some consideration going on. Has anyone heard anything about this?

Cards got down by as many as 14 during the first half, but cut the deficit to 5 at the half. Lamar took a lead early in the 3rd quarter. 36-35

Conference schedule begins at Sam Houston with a 6:30 PM tip-off. Which Lamar team will show up, the one that competed with Texas Tech, the one that played well versus Monroe or the one that couldn't do anything at other times?

Last chance for the Cards to get a D1 win before conference play starts. Tip-off is at 7 PM. Will be a difficult game for the Cards as ULM is 7-4 on the season with wins over fellow WAC member SFA, Southern Miss who defeated Lamar earlier and two over former Southland Conference mate Northwestern St.

Lamarcardinals.com is showing eight early signees, one from SE Texas (Westbrook's Khristian Pugh). If you look at the site, don't click on the individual player--it takes me to a 404 Error--and takes me somewhere else when I try to go back. I've tried two browsers and the same thing happens.

Game is on Wednesday. What is the deal with all the road games? Only 3 home games so far and only 1 was against a D1 school. Is getting paid more important than actually increasing the odds of winning games before conference begins?

Already seen one of our top receivers has made it official. Who is next? Can a coach enter the portal? Maybe Morgan and Born will enter the transfer portal.

Lady Cardinals improve their season record to 3 and 4, getting their first win against a D1 opponent in McNeese. From the stats and what I saw of the game the women need to improve taking care of the ball by reducing their turnovers. Lamar had 21 turnovers, but a good shooting percentage and relatively low points given up from those turnovers enabled the Cards to win the game. Lamar had four players in double figures including a freshman, Davis and a sophomore Dean. Franklin may be starting to turn the corner with the program. The next three games are all D1 schools and should prepare them for conference.

3:00 PM tip off. Hopefully most of the injured or ill players will be back. Also, as this should be a Lamar blowout win, the guys will play with the same kind of intensity they did against Mississippi State. Avoid overlooking this team and playing below Lamar's capabilities.

Ladies take on NAIA Loyola of New Orleans at 2:00 PM in the Montange. Loyola is a Top 25 NAIA school this year, so while it should be a fairly easy win it is against a decent lower-level school.

Counting tonight's game, the men have six contests before conference play begins. Tonight, is one of the expected losses on the overall schedule, but can Lamar play a competitive game. After that is a cupcake and four games that should be good contests and for most part winnable.
