LU is doing awesome in football and basketball: Basketball - rated at 314 out of 358 D1 teams, and last in the WAC. Football - rated 115 out of 128 FCS teams, and last in the WAC/ASUN challenge. Give Born a raise for the fine job he's doing as AD!

Lamar faces UTSA this afternoon at 2:00 PM. UTSA is 3-3 on the season. It looks like on average UTSA may have a slight height advantage. UTSA has two wins against other non-power conference opponents, but has a loss to a non-D1 school and to Corpus Christi. Should be a game the Cards should have a chance to win. Possibly the only chance on this three-game road swing.

Lady Cards were solidly defeated at Ole Miss 71-37. Ole Miss was much bigger and overall much more talented. On top of that two of Lamar's best players played very little with possible nagging injuries that Franklin didn't want to risk them aggravating whatever minor injuries they may have.

Game time is 6:30; Should be a tough match as it looks like on paper their starters are bigger across the board than Lamar.

Jacksonville St comes to Lamar following a 40-25 win over ACU. With a 4-5 record JSU is not where they expected to be record wise as they were a pre-season pick to make the playoffs. For Lamar if there is any chance at a win Chandler has to play and have a good day passing. (I know, it's hard to have a good day passing in Lamar's offensive scheme) I don't believe either of the other two quarterbacks Lamar has used this year are good enough passers.

About ten minutes until game time. This game should be another cake walk similar to last weeks exhibition game. It will be good to be able to watch on ESPN+

Any thoughts on SHSU joining CUSA? With NMSU and SHSU it looks like McNeese and IWU will join the WAC. Update: Hearing the McNeese is joining the WAC but no word yet on IWU. That would mean a 12 school WAC in 2024: West: Seattle, Cal Baptist, Grand Canyon, Utah Valley, Dixie St, Southern Utah East: McNeese, Lamar, SFA, Tarleton, ACU, UTRGV
