JC Correa will return for his Senior year. When he originally signed it was for one season to improve his draft stock but after being drafted 2 rounds later this year opposed to last year ( both times by the Astros ) he decided to return to get his degree. We still have a ways to go baseball wise but this is a good way to start the off-season. https://lamarcardinals.com/news/2019/6/8/baseball-correa-chooses-to-return-for-senior-season.aspx

So apparently we have one more scholarship to give. The offer is out to De'Andre Pinckney from Broward College PF - 6'8 220 lb 18.3 ppg 9.3 rpg Shot 59 % from he field & 76 % from the FT line Currently also has offers from ULM , FIU , New Mexico , and Florida Gulf Coast He is from Florida... Hope we can get him to Lamar he is exactly what we need ! http://www.verbalcommits.com/players/de-andre-pinckney

  8. Good find about Walter Prevost (Coachacola & lamar360) Judging by his per 40 minute averages and honorable mention honors the numbers don't tell the whole story. Another interesting tidbit is he led all forwards and centers for Angelina in scoring and rebounding in just 11 minutes per game so maybe the system he was in wasn't a good fit .

  10. December 13, 2006 I was 18 years old, my friends dad was a finance manager at a car dealership and he had tickets from a sponsor. Of course after he offered the tickets we took them. The opponent BYU One of the best experiences of my life after a big halftime lead Lamar would let BYU tie it up at the end of regulation. Going to overtime you could feel the excitement and nervousness through the Montagne Center. To speed this up Lamar wins 86-77 and it was an amazing experience just to see what Lamar accomplished and the fans and players reaction. I look up mid celebration to see Billy Tubbs with pure joy overcoming him ... So I take that opportunity to w…

Does anyone have faith Will Davis can turn the baseball program around ? Q&A with him from the Beaumont Enterprise below I'm curious of other opinions because he says we lost 19 games by one or two run but I would say good teams / coaches win near half of them right ? No sugar-coating we finished last in the Southland but don't forget about the UTSA and Gonzaga games at the end of the year.... but we wake up and beat TCU.... So are we closer to turning it around or falling further in the hole with Davis ?? https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.beaumontenterprise.com/sports/lamar/amp/Q-A-with-Lamar-baseball-coach-Will-Davis-13868855.php

  20. Year 3 of the Mike Shultz era is set 96 days. And as much as I am excited for the season I am also a Lamar fan for the past 18 years and one common theme for sure is expectations are rarely met. Lamar has the reputation to me to overachieve ( every once in a while ) rather than meet the expectations. In most sports anyways. So with that I say Lamar will finish 10-2 and win the conference 😏

  21. For me it's SFA maybe it's just wanting more of what they have accomplished lately in there athletic department and we seem to be 2 steps behind until Born got here I really trust he is going to be what we have all been waiting for as the AD for Lamar

Old news I know but wanted to make sure it was out there that conference Freshman of the year Miya Crump is transferring to Houston .... Obviously a big loss to the WBB team 😔

  23. This may be similar to a thread earlier this year about the men's basketball program, but a 1-5 start to the conference season brings out the questions. The Cards were up 4-0 today before ultimately loosing 4-6 at McNeese. With a young coach in just his second year as the head coach, some including me (even though I really want to be patient) will question if Will Davis was the correct hire. How patient should the fan base be? After all the last several years of the Gilligan era were less than stellar and many thought he should have retired sooner. Also the appearance was that Gilligan was in on the hire. I think I can evaluate basketball and it seems fairly simple,…

  24. Started by Born Again Cardinal,

Looking back on the women's basketball program. I have a thought I would like to express and would like to know everyone's opinion as well. HC job opens back up today who would you rather have back Robin Harmony or Larry Tidwell. ( Hypothetical question of course ) I choose Tidwell based solely on where the program was when he got here and what he brought them too. I take nothing from Coach Harmony we definitely sustained where Tidwell left off but she never got us to the ultimate goal by winning in Katy ......Thoughts ???

  25. I personally wanna welcome our newly appointed Women's Basketball coach Aqua Franklin. I really wish there was more excitement around the ladies program from the Tidwell era on we have had some talented teams suit up for LU.
